Lucky not to cause at least 1 penalty. Lost his guy time and time again. It is just a question of if the opposition capitalise on one of his multiple mistakes. Almost ever opponent now targets him. I don’t care how good the goal against Blues was, I don’t care how professional he has been in his time at the club. He just isn’t good enough, he hasn’t been good enough for a long long time and if anything he is getting worse. We cannot continue with him in the side, he has to be replaced in January. I agree with you sne, apart from the bit about "losing his guy". He never ever "had" his man so he couldn't lose him. Both our fullbacks have a habit of starting too far off their man - where he's better than Elmohamady is that when that man gets the ball, Hutton gets closer to him rather than backing further off - his starting position is often bad, but he defends pretty well once he gets into place. Defensively, I think he's better than he gets credit for - on occasion he goes on a wander and finds himself completely out of position, but in general he's reasonably solid - certainly good enough for the level we're at. He's not the future of the club, but right now he's a better left back than Taylor and a better right back than Elmohamady. I know we don't rate Taylor and God loves a trier but Hutton isn't a better option. Taylor simply through being left footed alone is a better option as Hutton being shoehorned there completely disrupts the balance. And he's also absolutely garbage. Time after time he left the LB area bare and out of position and got away with it a few times. As I say, not his best performance but as @OutByEaster? says, he is good enough at this level and for the remainder of the season until someone better is brought in for that position. If an opposition player is on the wing, you can virtually guarantee an easy delivery will be offered on a plate. That, or he will be totally skinned for pace.
