paddy Posted April 22, 2006 Share Posted April 22, 2006 Been down the hockey club drinking most of the day and we were watching the scores roll in and it was fantastic to see the scores roll in, there didn't seem to be a single inbred in our midst judging by the celebrations when the news of Pompey's 2nd goal came in, fantastic. The Birmingham boss turned up the heat in the relegation war by insisting his team are the most likely to keep their Premiership place. But fired-up Milan Mandaric blasted back: We're not going down. Pompey were today boosted by the news Lomana Lualua, Gary O'Neil, Dejan Stefanovic and Pedro Mendes had recovered from injury and were set to face Sunderland. But cocky Bruce believed his team were in the box seat in the battle for survival. He said: 'We are out of the bottom three and need to keep our noses in front. 'But we are the team in form. We have hit our best form of the season at the right time. 'Portsmouth were in championship form before they lost to Charlton, quite incredible stuff. 'But we are the favourites. The challenge now is to win two out of the last three games. 'Now we have to see if we can get the wins we need.' Bruce's words have provided even more ammunition to get Pompey fired up over the season's finale. Bullish Mandaric retaliated by vowing his club will be celebrating in two weeks. He said: 'We're not listening to what Steve Bruce has to say. 'This is no picnic. We are the team with the better quality and the better characters. 'We respect our opponents but we are the team playing the most consistent football.' that kind of back-fired didnt it brucey? lets hope that spurns pompey to stay up. can i just remind people that it might not come to the last game. if pompey beat wigan and blose lose to newcastle then, they are down and hopefully party time.
