NulliSecundus
Qatari money speaks to VT'ers They've probably been paid to vote for it! I take the timezone issue. Games would be on at 3am, 6am and 9am for us probably, possibly even 2am, 5am and 8am. The latter would be doable for most games IMO. Wouldn't fancy the 3am games though and I think FIFA would try and schedule so that European teams aren't on then. I just think Australia deserves it compared to the others (not had it recently and their team is 100x better than Qatar!!)
legov
not had it recently You mean "not had it, ever." :winkold:
NulliSecundus
Yes, maybe I should have said "recently, unlike the other three." Thought it wasn't needed though.
theunderstudy
Australia hopefully. Will be the US unfortunately.
Banger75
Unfortunately it will be Australia. I hope it's Qatar though. Why? They have shit infrastructure? It will ALL have to be built from scratch and the only things tourists will be able to do is walk around shopping centres owing to the 50 degree temperatures outside. For me, there is only one choice in all of this - Australia. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an excuse to go to the States again but 1994 wasn't that long ago... Same with Japan. South Korea might not exist by 2022 so it's a bit premature Why don't I want it to be Australia? Well, its currently 10am here in England. It's 9pm in Sydney. It's 8:30pm in Adelaide. It's 6pm in Perth. When the World Cup is on I like to gorge on football. I dont want to sleep through half the games. I dont want to have to get up at 7am to watch England play and I dont want the World Cup Final to kick off at lunchtime. Qatar can schedule games for European TV audiences very easily. And they may have some cool space age stadiums! There's a flip side to your argument....we live with PL games at ridiculous hrs forever!! I'm sure you can 'man up' and live with 4 weeks for us...? TheSufferingVilla
Hope it's the US. The time difference for Australia is a killer and it's a horrible distance to travel. The next US World Cup wont be anything like the last. Football is massive here now and there's a whole generation of football mad kids coming of age. MLS teams are building excellent football specific stadiums with real grass and by the time the World Cup in 2022 comes around I might have nippers who are old enough to bring to matches The downside is the climate, it's bloody hot here in summer the MLS games are mostly played early evening and beyond but I imagine FIFA would still want noon kick off times in Florida and such shit to maximise the international audience. parisvilla
disillusioned with Fifa. taking football away from the masses. artificial football in artificial surroundings - Qatar 22. on a side note; does booze even exist over there? can't see many european fans wanting to go at all

TheSufferingVilla
From Wiki: Under Qatar's Sharia law, it is illegal to show alcohol or be drunk in public. Should be a barrel of laughs then. Beheadings of drunken fans in the stadium at half time. Not too mention the burka cam picking out hotties in the stadium during the matches. TheTransferWindow
What an awful choice for football. Putting aside everything else, they are going to get destroyed in all their games. They've never been any good, even within Asia. They're 113th in the world.
