how come you got stuck in a police cordon? we got away easily, no bother except for the usual object-throwing and a bit of pushing and shoving (mainly aimed at the police, and from both sides)

We could have walked over the island near the ground and back through Digbeth, but seeing the smashed police landrover and groups of knuckledraggers loitering around and it being obvious we were coming from the Villa section we decided to bide our time, next thing we know we're in a cordon.

do you have to go in the escort? we're getting picked as we dont live too far away, and i have a feeling that blending in would be less risky than the escort.. the club should have arranged travel, i cant be arsed with violence in football

Not at all mate, last year you could just leave but it depends what's happening, the season before Villa were kept in the car park for about an hour after game. It really depends what west midlands finest fancy doing on the day.

This is going to be pwoperr nawtiii :P

Yeah, i bet it's going to be a bit like a Chinese school visit to London for the royal wedding, people will be battling for vantage points from which to video blokes doing pavement dancing, i expect youtube will probably crash on the thursday morning from the sheer weight of uploads. :D

We avoided the cordon by taking that route, just kept our heads down and blended in. Saw some kiddy of about 15 get knocked out by some word removed just because he was in a villa shirt and then the police land rover getting smashed up.. proper scum of the earth they are

Hopefully it'll be freezing - if we're kept in for an hour in the cold then it should help mitigate any trouble with those waiting outside.

LOL

And before the game?

Sorry, but a little bit of frost will not deter these stains of humanity. Besides, its not the flotsom thats coming out of the ground, because most of the trouble makers wont even be at the Match.

They will all be meeting up in pubs away from the ground, before arriving at their ambush points. They will have spotters outside the ground to let their mates know when we leave, and they will have spotters on every corner telling them which direction we are heading.

They dream about evenings like this, and kicking the shit out of some shirts is what they get off on.

They will be there, Cold or not, and in numbers :winkold:

500 coppers and over 50 riot vans, plus the dogs and spotters according to my mate in the feds, more than double what there is for normal derbies

zero tolerance as well, gonna crack down on p1ssed up people and all sorts apparently and refuse entrance

I agree with zero tolerance etc but surely rejecting one/two people for being p1ssed will cause more trouble because as they leave the ground they will just get hammered by the same people who the police are trying to protect them from??

your probably right, but there has been a bit of a crackdown on people being p1ssed in the grounds all season, you used to be able to get in whatever state you were in providing you could walk but ive seen a few at away games get lifted for being drunk but not wrecked

Is that a similar amount of coppers to the West Ham vs. Milwall derby does anyone know?

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/west_ham/article6811560.ece

"over 500".

So i'd imagine a similar amount.

If large numbers of people in an attendence of 30,000 going to and from the ground want to fight each other then there is very little police can do.

Thing is, it does not mean there will be 500 on duty at the ground. They will be spread out. Some will be used to escort coaches in and out, some will be on traffic, some will be patrolling the city and Digbeth areas, some will be in the ground, some will be showing a prescence outside the ground, some will be in reserve on stand by, some will be making the tea, and some will no doubt be harrassing me :bang:
