Mantis
A draw would've been the deserved reasult. Totally unfair what happened at the end with the freekick that shouldn't have been awarded. We're still 7th. Should be able to win against Bolton at home on Saturday.

Shillzz
Was a good performance. We were just unlucky, but I was pleased with everyone. Special mentioNs to Downing, Warnock and Agbonlahor who I thought were all good.

Pilchard
First half, a very good performance. We didn't turn up for the second half. Changes were needed, and we didn't get any. We went back to hoofing it for Young/Gabby to run after and that was never going to work. Richard Dunne far too deep for their first. I was just thinking how well the referee had done, and he gives such an incredibly daft free kick. It really does make me question if it's worth it, because you can have the best players, best tactics, best anything - and the referee will always seem to decide the game these days. Hopefully that will put an end to Ashley Young in the centre, too.

AVFC-Prideofbrum
More positives than negatives. Gutted of course but think I need to sleep it on before commenting further. Reo-Coker lost his man for the first goal, Petrov, although Pennant died, was a little stupid to run in and give Pennant the option to knock it round him when he wasn't going anywhere. MacDonald though, really should of bought on Ireland to give us that extra option in midfield and allow us more ball retention after about 60 minutes when it was clear they were just starting to get back on top. Didn't deserve that though and as said, more positives than negatives. Quick ratings: Friedel - 7 Young - 6.5 Warnock - 7 Dunne - 7 Collins - 8 Reo-Coker - 7 Petrov - 7 Downing - 8 Albrighton - 7 Young - 6 Gabby - 7.
villa4europe
so when jones decides to stand there and do **** all and one of defenders actually tries to win the ball its a foul? strange how when carew does that trick the foul goes against him, as for pennant absolute **** disgrace, and to be fair to round off his ineptness the ref ill admit missed 2 pens (cant see how the petrov trip isnt a pen) as for us, if ash scores it was game over, pulis turning up got them going (wasnt his mom in south wales, sounds harsh but south wales to stoke? that wasnt planned when they went a goal down that was planned long before kick off) lack of subs killed us again oh that and reo coker looking at something in the crowd whilst their best player strolled past him, once again he fails to convince me that he isnt shit

andym
well, KM has shown again why he didn't get the job. Stoke made subs which changed the game, we did nothing apart from bringing on heskey on 85 minutes. we settled for 1-0, then when they scored we settled for a point: that is not good enough. and every time we put a few passes together we looked dangerous. so why we spent most of the 2nd half lumping it up the pitch i don't know. it just kept coming back. in terms of tactics it was just like under MON defence was poor 2nd half. collins and dunne gave jones and fuller far too much space and time. jones had 3 villa players near him for his goal but they all just stood there watching him. and as for collins attempted clearing header and heskeys laughable clearing attempt for the winner, the less said the better. and we should just forfeit throw ins. we must be the worst team in the world at them. the amount of times we just threw it straight to a stoke player was unbelievable

Willy_Evergo
we should have been out of sight by halftime. Pulis won the tactical battle hands down.
CVByrne
That goal only cost us 1 point. Glad it came in this game and not the Everton game.

YankeeinMadrid
Dunne doesn't go up for corners anymore???? WTF? Since the Everton match when he got hurt he hasn't been the same. We had 7 or 8 corners and so many of them were quickly passed because we didn't have enough men in the box. I'm sorry but if Dunne isn't 100% you don't play him. Kmac is like a crappier version of MON. No plan B, no subs...etc. Friedel had a great match, Downing showed that he can play. Unfortunately he is such a pansy when it comes to defending. 0 effort. switters
Whole game had sense of inevitability about it. Stoke having made awful start to season, I kind of always felt they'd scrap their way to a win, particularly with us still rather unstable in terms of management. The way they won was particularly disgusting (the scummiest player on the pitch cheating to win a free kick and the worst player on the pitch deflecting it in), but we still should've cleared better - from both goals, in fact, as they had too many opportunities to get the second cross in. Good performance first half but we faded and have to agree with people questioning the lack of subs in the second half, as we were being forced to defend more and more hoofs and they were always going to score as long as we continued to let them win set pieces and get crosses in. They brought on Fuller and Pennant who between them won the match (in rather different ways), we just did nothing until a striker-for-striker late on. So frustrating to piss away points like that after all our rivals dropped points at the weekend. But then supporting Villa is just an accumulation of frustrations.
