Ireland had a few chances at Man City, he is currently in his second chance with us and had a chance at Newcastle. Personally i think THIS is his last chance saloon. McLeish is saying nice things about him, BUT he needs to show it on the pitch. He looked ok for 5 mins against Newcastle, but thats not enough.

Unfortunately we are the ones who are going to pay the rather expensive price for this **** up.

People should probably start paying more attention to him when he plays. Last night, his runs were extremely clever, and his passing at times was exceptional to play people through. He made a lot more effort than he did all of last season. He is due a start and a goal I feel. I Look forward to seeing 'Ireland 7' emblazoned across the back of shirts around Villa Park in the coming months!! Give the lad a chance.

Agree with this. Only player to make any sort of runs off the ball. But no one in claret and blue could find him. They were all good at finding white shirts though. He has so much quality on the ball he needs to start on sunday.

randy signed ireland, not mon,not amc,not gh.. its randy who px jimmy for him & has paid him his high wages, the ireland who played for city well is gone imho,i think ..no im sure if we had kev nolan & barton we would have a bit more in midfield, its a poor show when bolton reserves have just asked ireland to sit down, roll over & get his tummy tickled!

I thought he wasted another opportunity to impress last night. Yes he was no worse than anyone else, but he was no better either

A couple of 5 yeard passes does not an impressive performance make

I don't think he broke sweat, whereas Petrov couldnt stop breaking sweat if he tried. Not that it's doing him much good either

Both incredibly poor as 'senior' midfielders

if you get into brilliant positions and no one else can pick a pass out of 9 other outfielders (who all earn a lot of money) its your fault?? How many pple actually watched the game and are not just jumping on the chances bandwagon, and how many were ball watching while a few actually looked at the positions others were in to receive the ball. He gives outlets if players can spot him which is alot more then the wingers have been doing all year.

It's everyone elses fault but Ireland's it seems.

With that comment to a bang on post, you don't understand the technical aspect of the game you're commenting on, it seems.

Except Bent has proven over the years that he is a quality player not a one season wonder.. so not exactly the same is it.

So... 1 year later, 3-4 managers later he still needs to "adapt" with the players around him and they need to be on his level, hmm ok.. though it doesn't wash with me.

He has had one good season in his career with the likes of Robinho etc in a team.

Good post. His runs when he hasn't got the ball are very clever at times, but people are quick to criticise him if he's not putting his foot in. He's not that type of player and until we get one of that ilk we won't see the best of him.
