carew_villa
Looks like both teams are playing 4-5-1. Could be a low scoring game then.
MagicMarlon
Thinking about whacking a tenner on Ireland to score anytime... I've a tenner on him as first goal scorer
El_Hierro
A little thin on the bench with all the injuries we have.
lmarsha_926
Just siad on the OS that Ireland has the number 9 shirt
VillaGoMarching
So, same as against West Ham with Ireland a straight swap for Milner. That's a pretty good side. No Davies on the bench is notable I think. I hope i'm not the only one who never wants to see that kid in a villa shirt again. Awful display in Vienna. although it is a surprise to see no specialist CB on the bench.

OutByEaster? Posted August 22, 2010 Moderator Share Posted August 22, 2010 I think Beye was the better of the two in Vienna, but Davies is the better centre half, he just needs to shake the rust off. I hope this is a footballing decision.

MagicMarlon
Just siad on the OS that Ireland has the number 9 shirt Strange, I thought he would have taken number 8 considering his position. But squad numbers don't mean much these days.

Pilchard
That's an interesting team selection. Looks quite weak in the middle of midfield. Would have prefered NRC in the middle.
VillaGoMarching
i'm not sure if he could have been allocated the number 8, simply because Milner has already played for us with that number.
notoriousjim
This won't be a walk in the park but if we perform like we did last Saturday can see us getting a narrow win. 2-1 Villa goals from Ireland & Young with Routeledge scoring for them as a former player. It's an interesting comparison in the middle of the park, Newcastle are all power and aggression with Barton, Smith and Nolan - we've gone with something much more subtle in Petrov, Ireland and Young. If the game gets bogged down in the middle we might struggle, but I think we've got the potential to force them back and score goals today - it's all about who can get out on the front foot. Awol
Very attacking line up, looks like we'll be trying to peg them back which is surprising away from home. Like it though!
VillaGoMarching
A good thing with that side, is if it's not going to plan, we can bring off a winger and put Reo-Coker on to try and help with the physical side of things.
AV82
Really looking forward to this game and seeing how Ireland fares. Come on Villa!
Rino8 Posted August 22, 2010 Visiting Supporter Share Posted August 22, 2010 Don't know what to make of that team selection. Not something I'd play against Newcastle at home, but we'll see.
brummybloke
whats the odds that crappy routledge scores or plays great against us, that egg head always has 1 good game per year and ormally it is against us ( mind you , when we signed him he didnt even have the 1 good game)>
