Ironsid
I like the idea of possession, passing football. It needs a decent winger and someone to provide the killer pass for Bent. It must be nice for the midfielders to end the game without stiff necks caused by howitzer shells looping over their heads.

gilbertoAVFC
Does anybody have an idea what has happened to Delph? Not featured even on the bench since the Tranmere game in either squad and yet there appears to have been no news of an injury.
Texas_Mike
Lambert has realized he is crap. Can't tackle, can't pass. Needs to be sold in Jaunary.
Czechlad
Westwood is clearly the better midfielder in Lambert's eyes. Plus with Kea, Bannan, and Ireland all playing decently, Delph shouldn't be mentioned. I just wanna know where is Herd?
VillaGoMarching
Tbf, he got injured in training after the Tranmere game, missed Newcastle but was for for Saturday. PL decided to go with the 4 attacking players plus Given and two other new signings.
AVFCforever1991
Delph is better than Herd IMO. Still believe he can come good under Lambert.
Keyblade
He was excellent against West Ham, and I thought he was ahead of Bannan in that LM spot. I hope he starts against Soton if he's fit.
rodigan
why do we keep insist on selling our players in january, whether its delph, gabby, zoggy, dunne or event db9? im loving the fact that for the first time in years we have a squad that is genuinely competing for players in all positions... selling any of our players right now will either result in a substantial loss or us losing a star who's contributing to our starting XI. If management makes PL sell then thats a separate manner, but personally, I want to see what PL can do with these players - who will he improve and who will fall away... after 4 games, i can't say for certain with regards to anyone... PS obviously this does not apply to warnock and hutton, who aren't actually part of our squad and are languishing in the naughty corner...

villaglint
Another game where he wasnt even in the squad. Lambert went for three strikers on bench rather than giving Delph a spot. Considering his performance against West Ham and the fact that Lambert seemed to like him in pre season it is a little odd.

briny_ear
He wasn't injured at the weekend according to the Guardian. Available as a sub, not selected. Lambert was having a bit of an off-day on Saturday, so maybe it's not the end for Fabian.
AVFCforever1991
i was hoping delph would come good, but cant see it happening, pity Lambert is not even giving him a chance to show what he can do. Really don't think its unfair to rule out Delph when he is not getting minutes in the pitch!
brummybloke
probably get a game tonight which again is a bit unfair to judge the fringe players when they will be up against the league champions.
