Kingman
He was only on 30k anyway. Interesting he said he thought he thinks the next few years will be "big" for Villa. Wonder if there was anything in that. Delph is in the top 3 earners!
useless
It's got nothing to do with a takeover. Lambert has said that 'nobody saw this coming', so seems like the club are surprised by it too, which they probably wouldnt be if they knew we had new owners around the corner. markavfc40
This is fantastic news. In the main over the last couple of years he has been very good. He is just coming into his peak years as well so there should be more to come from him. I also think him and Gil will link up very well.
Neil
It looks a bit like one of those ISIS hostage videos. Ahh snap, I just commented that without seeing this first...rather does doesn't it
HanoiVillan
Nothing makes me happier than news that shuts up the arm chair, twitter, FM, never kicked a ball dross that plagues these boards. Oh wind your neck in. Other people have different opinions, get over it.

Bunnski
Hopefully him signing this deal is as much to do with loyalty as it is to do with a promise of investment from the current owner or possibly a new owner.

CrackpotForeigner
I would have been happy enough for him to go if that's what he wanted. But a four and a half year contract? Maybe he didn't! Great news. Knowing that he's quite possibly going to be a Villa man for most of his career should motivate him to help make us a better side. If he can learn to offer more in attack he will be a properly outstanding midfielder.

JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Fabian Delph WILL join Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool in the summer FORMER Liverpool and Aston Villa star Stan Collymore says that it is likely Fabian Delph will leave the club despite having only just signed a new deal at Villa Park. Published: 00:00, Sun, January 25, 2015 By IZZY HORSEFIELD GETTY Stan Collymore says it is likely that Fabian Delph will leave Aston Villa despite his new deal Aston Villa announced today that the England midfielder had agreed a new four-and-a-half year contract to keep him at the club until 2019. Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal have all had their eye on the 25-year-old but with his new deal, but Collymore sees it as an opportunity for Villa to get more money when top sides come knocking. "In reality it means we can get money for Fabian in the summer. Proper money. "Contract probabilities. A, possible release clause if AVFC relegated. B, an agreed trigger figure should another club meet it. Let's say £30m," he wrote on Twitter. "Not saying anyone will pay £30m, club will want it to be as high as possible to put clubs off." Delph joined Villa in 2009 after his move from Championship side Leeds United Then there is this. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/554204/Fabian-Delph-Aston-Villa-deal-Tottenham-Liverpool-Arsenal-Stan-Collymore Edited January 25, 2015 by JAMAICAN-VILLAN

He hasn't signed a new deal just to get us a transfer fee when he leaves! Collymore talks such rubbish.
Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted January 25, 2015 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted January 25, 2015 Fine words and great commitment. A midfield of Delph, Gil and Sanchez is a very decent prospect I think. He's always struck me as an old fashioned sort of footballer and an old fashioned sort of man, I'm impressed and delighted with his loyalty to us - he must be bonkers. Well done lad.

dn1982
Make him Captain! If Vlaar doesn't do the same and reign by the time he is fit don't give it him back. Delph is a leader and one of the first names on the team sheet. He deserves it!
PompeyVillan
Even when he is on top form I think he is slightly overrated but that doesn't mean that I don't rate him. It's good news for the club, it shows current and potential signings that we are capable of holding onto our best players...sometimes.
