theunderstudy 334
David Tennant did the same too as I recall. There was another represented actor named David McDonald so he went with a different surname instead. I wonder what the percentage is for actors going by a stage name. Got to be pretty high

That’s always my go to example of this sort of thing. The added twist being that “Douglas” itself was wasn’t Kirk’s original surname to confuse things further. His first name wasn’t Kirk either, come to think of it.
Seat68 7,685
None of Hank Williams, Hank Williams Jr and Hank Wiiliams III are really called Hank Williams. Hiram, Randall and Shelton respectively. This is discounting the middle name. Edited November 16, 2020 by Seat68

Moderator bickster 17,501 Posted November 16, 2020 Moderator Report Share Posted November 16, 2020 On the actors and stage names thing. I was in school with a lad called Andrew Hickman who went into acting (he's been in a few ads and some minor TV roles). He goes to register with EQUITY and there's already an Andrew Hickman, so he has to pick another name, he goes for Andrew Grainger. The absolute prat Andrew Grainger was the name of one of his mates Yeah so that doesn't cause much confusion at all
