Hijacking this but I lived on Aberystwyth seafront for three years and whether it was sunny, raining or gale force winds it was wonderful. I still think about it today. I will retire to the sea one day.

It’s a genuine freekin’ blessing every god damn day. The sound of the waves today, crashing on the pebbles and dragging them around, just the best. I see a fair few towns because of my job. The more places I see, the more I’m grateful for living here. For example, I’ve been to Luton this week, and West Drayton, Bromsgrove, Harrow, and Heathrow. I can’t say I bothered looking at house prices.

People don’t, people, locals find negatives but I love Stafford. I love Staffordshire and the Peak District. I appreciate it greatly and I see beauty and joy in parts of Stafford and Staffordshire. Friends from Telford ask if I would ever move back and I wouldn’t as I love where I live so much.

There are plenty of people here that think it’s ‘shit’ or ‘boring’ or whatever. Part of my wife’s job, they organise trips to the beach for kids in town. Some of those kids have never been to the beach. Their parents could **** walk there any day of any week.
blandy Posted October 31, 2020 Moderator Share Posted October 31, 2020 Living by the coast is awesome. The Fylde coast where I live now is pretty damned good - sunsets, views etc But directly before living here, I lived in Newquay, basically on the cliff top. That was immense. The huge autumn and winter storms and swells and gales, glorious summer evenings, beach parties, walking right across the cliff tops to the pub. Simple but wonderful.

Yeah but you really are comparing the old 70's desicated dog turd with the fresh newly laid link of a cockapoodle 1
bickster Posted October 31, 2020 Moderator Share Posted October 31, 2020 I live about 300m (in a straight line) from the sea. Not been to see it yet
mjmooney Posted October 31, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted October 31, 2020 I like living in Leeds - apart from the football club, naturally. We're perfectly placed between a reasonably sized city and some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. But I'm intrigued by the idea of living on the coast. I'd like to at least spend a year in a clifftop location, to watch the sea for a full four seasons. Ain't gonna happen now though.
chrisp65
That’s kind of it for me, I live 15 / 20 minutes from a big city with gigs, and all the shops and whatnot. But from my house I have a country park at the end of the street that is a 15 / 20 minute walk through that park to be stood on the shoreline. In the other direction, I’m a 15 minute walk from the football and the clubhouse. I think that’s a fairly difficult combination to beat. Not least, as I’m really not in the slightest bit interested in ‘countryside’. I struggle with a week’s holiday in a cottage.

Xela
I've always been in awe of the seaside. Mainly because I very rarely see it! Like Mike, I'd love to live in a property right by the sea... hearing the waves crashing over the rocks at night. I was in Whitby in January (seems a lifetime ago now!) and the sea was very choppy. I sat on a bench just staring at it.. could have spent hours there. I do love the countryside as well. Edited October 31, 2020 by Xela
Davkaus
I'd rather stay home than go on a countryside holiday tbh.

I think those pics were of a sunny easter monday! It can get very busy in the summer but weekdays, during the winter, would be fine, I think. Its never going to deserted though,
