I think he's just not a very nice dog, in the same way you get people that are bastards. The mother in law thinks its hilarious that the father in law gets out of bed for a piss in the night, dog jumps in and then growls at him if he tries to move him. My dog would never dream of doing that. Mother in law also thinks its great that he starts on dogs twice his size. He barks incessantly if he's put outside when people are round their house. She's clearly the root of the problem.

As I say, very reminiscent of our dog and it’s 100% anxiety related, I’m almost certain the dog doesn’t want to go out of its way to be a dick, much the same as humans don’t go out of their way to have anxiety issues.

Most of the time it's the owners who cause it.   I have had 2 rescue dogs who were both said to be difficult to control and aggressive.  (A big beagle and a big border Collie).

After 2 months they are both off the lead on the beech with dogs / kids / balls and all that.

For big dogs,  ignore it and keep walking (as in dont twitch and make out it never happened) for a few weeks and they get fed up of no attention.  OTT when they do good obviously.

It's different with really small dogs I know but when they bark people tend to pull up on the lead.  this makes it worse (From the small dogs POV the situation must be bad if my owner has pulled me off the ground almost).

Also,  sometimes they are just saying hi,  i walk my dog over and they stop and sniff and all that,  close the gap a bit and see if they both calm down.

Dog's afaik dont come out with anxiety issues or they would never survive as a species i suppose ?

I've never met a dog I didn't love.

I'm actually hating it at the moment because the park is full of hem but I don't feel I can pet them when they come up to me :(

I love you really guys!

Since I got my pup, I’ve been trying to get him out there as much as possible and socialising as best we can.

There are some great dogs about, but there is one in particular called ‘Jasper’, who is just amazing. Not sure what he is, he looks like a springer spaniel, but is really thick set and chunky.

Anyway, whenever we see him in the park he bounds over, thuds his body into my leg and demands a fuss. Within seconds he’s on his back for a tummy rub, it’s proper ace.

The funny thing is, watching my little pup try and play with him - Jasper has no interest in him at all, he just wants fusses from humans.

Dogs are amazing.

Dogs are amazing, I’ve not had one since my Labrador died in 1998, he was a brilliant dog that went with me everywhere. With work and everything now I couldn’t give a dog the time it deserves, and it’s not fair to leave them at home all day. Luckily my wife’s parents have always had dogs. A Rottweiler called storm who was beautiful, and now a German shepherd that’s crazy but very loving. She cheers me up when I visit for my dog fix.

Apart from that, watching guilty dog compilations on YouTube always raises a smile.

My dog is 100% the same,  looks down on small dogs like they are small heaths,  shows no interest whatsoever.

It makes me feel sad for little Woody, he’s out there trying his best, but it’s like watching an annoying little brother trying to play with his older one!

Depends on the dog. Same goes for cats. And people.

I love animals in general, but I can't remember (as an adult) meeting a dog and it didn't cheer me up. Doesn't matter if it's a Leonberger or a chihuahua. A boxer or a retriever. They are all awesome to me.

I've always preferred big dogs, but my new neighbour has a French bulldog or whatever it's called. It cracks me up. Dogs are just awesome.

My wife asked me to get Pet Sounds as she wanted to hear Good Vibrations. 5 minutes of education later and I am now a word removed.

I didn't know Pet Sounds was an album so that sentence made my head explode,  I thought the thrust of the post was about w****ing

I have a Beagle, he's 3 now and is absolutely awesome. He's incredibly loyal and fun.

Had mine for 7 years.  The day i had him put down,  lets just say I found it difficult.

I even made the vet cry that day and she has done 100´s and 100´s.

i've got to go to a funeral tomorrow. Not looking forward to it but I'm relishing the prospect of a four hour round trip in the car. I've really missed driving.

Woah woah woah, let’s back this back up and review this. Slowly.

You didn’t know, that Pet Sounds, was an album?

Genuinely thought that information was just part of the genetic imprint, like finding the nipple for the first time or not trusting 2 ply paper.

I still don't understand what anybody is talking about here

I guess that marks a genuine generational gap. I mean it still massively surprises me and in truth I don’t actually believe it.

But it could be one of those real markers of an age gap leading to a very different culture. I think if kids of 17 were saying they hadn’t heard of it I’d accept that.

You wait til they hear about Sgt Pepper!

Mooney'd it.

Beach Boys. Meh. It rings a bell now I've googled it.

They're about the blandest band of all time so not surprised I'd forgotten about it.

My daughter who is 31, from a house that adores The Beach Boys. I am going to message her now to see if she has heard of Pet Sounds. She is a metal fan so I will wager no.
