moose
I really hope we don't pick up any injuries, that squad looks pretty threadbare as it is! Anyhow, let's just hope we give them a good game and bring it back to VP with everything to play for. No Salifou
AVFC-Prideofbrum
Guzan Beye Davies Clark Warnock Coker Bannan Albrighton Downing Delfouneso Heskey. 1-2 Villa. Downing, Albrighton.
sfaok
Are key players being rested? The squad looks very weak. no disrespect to the young blood. Seems like KM is looking for a draw and to blitz the 2nd leg with a strong side.
OutByEaster? rjw63
So probably: Guzan Beye Davies Clark Warnock Albrighton NRC Bannan Downing Heskey Weimann Maybe? That is exactly the team they surmised on Radio WM tonight. I'm not particularly happy, as at this early stage of the season we should have kept an unchanged starting line up and battered these ****
granville
I'm happy with that team. I think we'll nick 2.
millbrook85
Guzan Beye Davies Clark Warnock Coker Bannan Albrighton Downing Delfouneso I like the same line up in this formation. ---------------------Guzan------------------------ Beye--------Davies--------Clark--------Warnock --------------------Reo Coker-------------------- Albrighton--------------------------------Downing ---------------------Bannan---------------------- --------------Heskey-------Delfouneso---------- That should do it. It's a shame we don't have a reserve left back, though. Warnock has to play just about every game.
Hanky
Weimann will probably play before Delfouneso judging by the weekend.
OutByEaster? Posted August 18, 2010 Moderator Share Posted August 18, 2010 Weimann will probably play before Delfouneso judging by the weekend. I think he might give Delfouneso the start because he gave Weimann the league appearance, sort of sharing it around if you know what I mean. carew_villa
I think Andreas Weimann should play for sentiment. We bought him from Rapid Vienna, didn't we?
Demitri_C
i personally think we are going to get battered with that team. i am in favour of resting the likes of ashley young and carew but why not just put them on the bench?
DiegoD
i personally think we are going to get battered with that team. i am in favour of resting the likes of ashley young and carew but why not just put them on the bench? I think if u are putting them on a plane and making them travel there is no point having our stars sitting on the bench. Also we definitely will not get battered, I am sure our team will be weaker on paper, but our fringe player will be dying for the opportunity to shine so i am expecting a tight game. dudley_villa
i personally think we are going to get battered with that team. i am in favour of resting the likes of ashley young and carew but why not just put them on the bench? My thoughts to, I just hope its not a right royal hiding and the young lads dont get a major confidence knock. I really thought we would take this serious and play a strong team so we qualify to the group stages, Then play the kids to give them valuable experience and earn a few Million quid we so well need along the way. But what do i no... Lets get there first and not **** it up at the first attempt... **** fed up with it all to be honest...
Genie
Have to say I have my concerns about the side we'll put out tonight. I'd take a draw or a 1 goal loss right now. We could turn that over with the full side in the second leg.
jimbojames
I suppose the only benefit with the squad picked is quite a few of them are aware of each others qualities from the reserve side. Big Mac seems to be a man of his word and is giving everyone a chance so nobody can have any complaints with that.
rjenkins
I personally think the team will be something like: -------------------------Guzan------------------------- ----Beye------Davies----------Clark----Warnock--- -----------Reo-Coker---------Osbourne-------------- Albrighton------------Bannan---------------Downing ------------------------Heskey-------------------------
AVFCChis
I'm personally quite excited about seeing the youngsters play, especially if Albrighton's and Clark's performances at the weekend were anything to go by. As someone else pointed out, they are now 2 years older than when some of them played in the Moscow game. I would imagine that with the fact that the weekends Prem game is an away trip to Newcastle had a lot to do with the selection. The squad wont get back until Friday and then have to set off for Newcastle on Saturday leaving no realistic preparation time. Everton at home the following week may be a different matter - unless this team excels of course.
