VINYL LPs IN THE MIDLANDS - A dying art...

It's a diggers code thing. I think if he was in my close circle of collectors it would've been shared though. Something about Isaac Hayes and Quincy Jones stuff, stax records etc. He knows his stuff to be fair, and I know he wants to grab some more things before letting anyone know. To be fair if I was after something I'd hold off on letting the world know first. I told him I don't collect the same as him, no point me getting breaks and samples off the same wax every tom dick and harry are searching for... but he's not playing!

Aye, two different briefs.

I listen to Isaac, Quincy and Stax stuff, but wouldn't want to sample them.

Like it when someone finds a sublime couple of seconds in something completely random.

Love

but there's no way I'd have bought
to listen to.

Nice. What kind of shop? You're overseas right?

London.

HMV dropped a lot of stock into clearance bins this week.

The big stores had some great bits & bobs going for £1 - £4

Chuffed with the DeWolfe. Type DeWolfe music into Youtube to get an idea.

:winkold:

I used to love browsing Reddington's Rare Records...

I used to go to Reddingtons every saturday morning, they knew the boxes I wanted off the shelf as soon as I got in the door

Happy daze indeed

I used to love browsing Reddington's Rare Records...

Plastic Factory used to be very hazardous to my bank account.

Neu 1, 2 & 75 cost me £20 each in the early 90's.

Just couldn't leave them.

Doriella Du Fontaine (Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles And Lightnin' Rod)

To celebrate and support Record Store Day 2011, the newly re-launched and Karakos-powered Celluloid Records presents a limited repress of the classic "Doriella Du Fontaine". The project began in late 1969 with famed producer Alan Douglas recording the unmistakable Jimi Hendrix and legendary Buddy Miles in rolling and groove-laden musical backdrop. Fast forward 4 years and Lightnin' Rod (aka Jalaluddin Mansur Nuriddin) adds in his distinctive vocal soundtrack. Rod calls it "spoagraphics" (spoken pictures) but to most listeners hear it as the roots of an early form of rap. Rhythm, spoken-word and the art of the storyteller all wrapped up into one. The two meld together to create something new and unheard in 1973 and something still sounding fresh in 2011.

The only place in my town that had a bunch of 2nd hand vinyl got rid of it all not long ago too. Sucks. My favourite record store is Probe in Liverpool, but that doesn't seem right since it moved awhile back. Picked up the latest Fat Worm of Error LP and the recent Propagandhi split recently, and the new Boris 2xLP will be winging it's way to me shortly. All bought online though!...
