Wouldn't be the end of the world if Sven came, did a decent job at city leading them to their highest finish in years and did a better job with England than the clown currently in charge.

He is only interested in attention, money and getting his leg over.

Yeah, but mostly the last bit.. This is not an option anyway, he only ever seems to turn up if he's promised ridiculous funds.

I think the main problem is that there are not many top class managers out of work at the moment.

Also just my opinion but a top class European manager will only come to us if he's offered a good war chest to invest in new players.

Thinking and explayer and a experience manager..

Maradonna and Merson

or

Collymore and Atkinson

Is this a wind up?

We need someone with experience from both PL and the transfer market, we need someone with tactical skills and a good coach, and someone who is respected by the players. The stories about champagne pictures and name calling really seems to indicate that they players at least want someone to coach them (and have the ability to do so).

I am not sure it is possible to find all of this in one person, so, as others have indicated, we might be looking at two persons, one manager and one director of football. I could handle a more unexperienced manager if we got an expericenced director of football. Bradley might not be a bad shout in such a scenario.

With a group of very similar managers (in stature) couldn't someone start a poll on this site (with no comments required) on who they'd LIKE to come to Villa - including all the current forerunners.

Say, Bradley, Sven, Curbs, Jol, Hughes, Southgate, Pearce and any of the other realistic names we've been linked to.

It'd be interesting to see who the fans want.

No Contact with Sven .....yet.

Sven Goran Eriksson's representative has insisted there has been no approach from Aston Villa for the Swede.

Martin O'Neill's shock resignation has left Villa without a manager less than a week before the start of the new Premier League season.

Attention has quickly turned to the search for a successor, with Kevin MacDonald currently in charge on a temporary basis.

A number of names have already been linked with the vacant role, including former England and Manchester City boss Eriksson.

Eriksson is currently out of work after leading Ivory Coast at the World Cup, and reports have suggested he would be keen on a return to the Premier League.

His agent Athole Still is not surprised that Eriksson has been connected with the post but says Villa have not been in touch as yet.

"There has been no contact from Aston Villa," said Still.

"Sven gets associated with a lot of big jobs but, as we speak, there has been no contact from Aston Villa."

Bob Bradley is another manager reportedly in the frame to replace O'Neill and has indicated that he would be keen to work in Europe.

Villa owner Randy Lerner will be looking to make a swift appointment, with the club's first game of the new campaign taking place against West Ham on Saturday.

Tricella would be over the moon if Sven had arrived.

Why dont you ask him? ;)

I'm up for Tony 'coal eating' Mowbry.

How about Mick McCarthy?

Anyone but Mad Mick!
