Ponky
It's good to see the Manager using the reserves to keep the fringe players match fit. It used to perplex me why the likes of Beye, Young and Sidwell got very limited (ie no) match time in the firsts but apart from the closed doors friendlies never really got the chance to maintain their condition under actual match conditions. BOF Posted October 19, 2010 Author Moderator Share Posted October 19, 2010 Big night tonight in the reserve leagues. Our 2 main Southern competitors (Arsenal & West Ham) played against each other and Arsenal came out on top with a heavy 4-1 home win. The explosive Jay Emmanuel-Thomas picking up a hat-trick that moves him to 8 goals in 5 reserve games this season. Easily the top scorer across all 3 leagues. The other Southern game is tomorrow afternoon with the Baggies hosting Chelsea. BOF Posted October 26, 2010 Author Moderator Share Posted October 26, 2010 Our next game is next Tuesday AWAY to Arsenal @ 13:30 despite the official site saying we're home at 19:00. Also I've updated the December game away at Chelsea to be Monday the 6th (not Wed 8th) and it now kicks off early @ 14:05.
BOF Posted October 28, 2010 Author Moderator Share Posted October 28, 2010 4 changes to the reserve schedule 22/11/10 Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion 10/01/11 Aston Villa v Arsenal 21/02/11 Aston Villa v Chelsea These have all been moved from Villa Park to Bodymoor Heath with a midday kickoff This means there is only 1 game left this season where the fans can watch the reserve side at home. 4th April against Liverpool on the final day. The 4th fixture change is the away tie with Chelsea being moved from 06/12/10 to 19/01/11 because of the senior side now playing Liverpool on 06/12/10 in front of the Sky cameras. BOF Posted November 2, 2010 Author Moderator Share Posted November 2, 2010 A strong Villa side kick off against Arsenal in half an hour. If we manage to win that game then we are genuinely back in the hunt for the Southern title. If we lose it then we're all but gone. A draw would not do us any great favours either. Marc Albrighton makes his first reserve start of the season, presumably to get some fitness after his enforced break at the weekend. In-form reserve striker Nathan Delfouneso continues up front this time alongside former Arsenal man Samir Carruthers as Graham Burke drops to the bench. The midfield contains Boss Hogg & Moustapha Salifou in the centre with the senior men, Barry Bannan & Marc Albrighton on the flanks. Baby Brad is in goal and the back 4 is Shane Lowry, Eric Lichaj, Derrick Williams & Ellis Deeney. The only way to make that side stronger would be to put Ciaran Clark in the centre. K-Mac clearly knows the importance of this game to our season. Keep it here for all the updates.
