Phil Silvers
On the basis that Smith keeps saying he's ready when he isnt, I'd say Jack starts tomorrow.

I think we've just got to accept that he might not play again this season. Only positive is in terms of teams looking at him, might seem a greater risk now given not kicked a ball since Feb. Still plenty of games in May to get himself in contention for the Euros. Really want to see him play this summer! I think he will still be going to the Euros regardless. We've been fed continual bull about this mysterious injury from the start. Totally agreed. Whatever he did was really bad. Absolutely don't buy into him ever being ready for the Fulham game and the club has known all along he'd be out for 2-3 months. I must admit, they have gone about it a rather strange way.

Or maybe, just maybe, shin injuries are hard to manage and they thought Grealish would be back for Fulham but he had a setback? Not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes injuries are just difficult.

He trained for the whole week before Fulham. There were pictures and the club even made a big deal of it by posting this... I don't think they would have done this if he wasn't ever going to be fit for Fulham. He just had a recurrence of the injury on Saturday and had to pull out. I appreciate optimism but let's not stray into bullshit territory trying to find the silver lining in this; there is none. Our best homegrown player in a generation has missed 8 games already and stands to miss at least 3 more. It's devastated our hopes of Europe this year and all we've proven while he's been injured is that we're at Fulham's level without him. Bit dramatic. Worse things have happened

This is exactly my point - it’s forcing other players to step up. When Jack comes back we’ll be better than we were before he got injured. Something similar happened in our promotion season. It’s definitely a huge setback to this season’s campaign, but long term I think it’s a challenge some of these young players needed to face. Well yes- 3 out of the last 4 seasons which is when he has been automatic first choice for us, he has had at least a couple of months out being injured. Thankfully Jack was fit last season or we would have got relegated no question.

He could have been ready or this could all have been staged, the fact is we just don’t know. That may be frustrating but stuff like this generally is kept behind closed doors and so it should for all kinds of reasons.

Hmmm we were floundering mid table until Grealish got back and it took a 10 game winning streak plus other teams to go out of form for us to squeak into 5th spot in the Championship.

I really don't buy any of the conspiracy theories. The club wouldn't go to the effort of staging a training video when they knew full well he wasn't going to be back playing soon. What would they gain from that?
Demitri_C
I have to say i think the management of this injury has been poor from the club. Very vague info telling us it was nothing to worry about yet he has been out for 2 months. Smith then says he was rushed back. He has had a similar injury before why am they not getting a specialist in for this kind of injury?
