TreeVillan
Yeah no reason to be butt hurt about this. It's England's loss not ours, or Jack's for that matter.

Ings is already playing, Heaton is in England. So only Grealish and Targett actually left. Danny Ings didn’t make the squad mate. He’s playing well though, probably better than Kane so another mistake by Southgate and also not a typo from you:

But you can't compare Ings with Jack or Maddison. Those two have hype and most people recognize their potential. While Ings been around for a while and he's not more than a Darren Bent, a good poacher but nothing spectacular. If he goes to England, then he's a good choice to have, if he don't, then nothing much will change. Even if he's playing better now than Kane, its not that he's a better choice. To be honest, I don't follow a lot of international football too, I want England to make good because of my English friends, but I usually try and follow every game that has Villa players in (which was Delph debut I think 2014 or so). I'm not defending Southgate, as I'm not sure whats preventing him from giving players chances. I don't think he's proving his value so far. But no one can deny that what he done in the WC was one of the best in England history (well, many times bad luck was the case, for example 2002). I don't even think that Deschamps himself is convincing in France anyway. Sometimes players could help the manager. But once you're achieving, you can't do anything with it, even if you have you're concerns.

screwdriver
Maddison has brought shame on the jersey by pulling out injured and then turning up in a casino giving it the big one splashing cash in front of the fans. His inclusion is just as strange as hudson odoi Who is just another flash in the pan winger with a double step over. WakefieldVillan
I mentioned after the Brighton match that Jack was a nailed on member of the next England squad so I take full responsibility, so sorry lads and er.... sorry Jack But on a serious note, I think we all thought that this was his time for selection and I am pretty baffled that Southgate has decided to overlook him again even after watching some of his fine recent performances. The injury he sustained last time out would have been the only reason for the England manager leaving him out.. IMO, though it could be a bit of a blessing in disguise (from a Villa perspective) that he can now rest up after the Wolves game. It is ridiculous to compare him to Delph who is a completely different player, but the question for me is do we really need Delph in this squad for these up and coming games, when we have Rice and Henderson - It was the prefect opportunity to have a look at Jack on the International stage and see what he can bring to the party - which as Villa fans, we all know - The ability to carry the ball, glide past players nonchalantly, pick a pass, draw fouls ETC... He really is different to practically every other player in the squad bar possibly Maddison. I may be biased, well there is no maybe about it, I AM biased, we probably all are on this topic, but he would be one of the first names in the squad for me, behind the obvious ones in Sterling and Kane - he just would give us something extra to our play. As for Southgate, I think he has done a decent job overall, blending in younger players and trying a decent style of football but I am not one of these that would get carried away with being World Cup Semi Finalists, in 90 minutes we beat Tunisia (last minute), Panama and Sweden! Any decent opposition and we came up short, therefore Jury still out! Back to Jack - A nice goal and victory at Molineux would be just the tonic! Yes, I had expected him to miss out on this squad due to that, but he's there again and so is that tired old snake, but there is still no room for our Jack. I know that Southgate is spoilt for choice in the middle, but he does seem to be looking for any sort of reason not to pick Jack. VillaFaninLondon
Knew this would be the case. Trying to make out it's an innocuous injury and he'll be back for Liverpool and has trained, then saying he hasn't trained and won't until Thursday and now saying he's 50/50 for Sunday. Can't they just tell the truth and put us out of our misery. I genuinely fear he could be out for a while as this is how it started when he was out last year. If that is the case that's us ****ed. Nothing says you can't go to the casino when you are under the weather. Was it the best move after being sent home ? Probably not but really not shameful. Ask one of our players to walk off so it’s a level playing field? I’m pretty sure he was playing out of his skin when they had 11. I’m really annoyed. Jack’s mum: “Hi, son. How did it go against Brighton today? I heard the England boss was watching.” Jack: “Total waste of time. Red card.” Mum: “You got yourself sent off?” Jack: “What? No, I got one of their guys sent off. Then I got a goal. Then I got an assist. Then I got man of the match.” Mum: “So why was that a waste of time?” Jack: “I dunno, that’s just what the England boss said.” Mum: “Well, did he say anything nice?” Jack: “Yeah, he said if I keep on trying hard then one day I could be as good as…” Mum: “Zidane? Pirlo?” Jack: “… Callum Hudson-Odoi.” 4

tinker Posted November 8, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted November 8, 2019 Southgate made his mark by using young and up and coming players , if he's lost that ability then he will fail. Jack will be missed but it gives an opportunity for other players to break through and for a new captain .
