After all that has gone on in the last couple of days, what is the general view of the public ie. VillaTalk.

Should FIFA bring in goal line technology? It seems it is something as simple as a microchip inserted into the ball, but where does it stop? Will it then be a case of people wanting video replay's for penelty decisions? How lower standard do you take it down to?

I say No. The game needs to left alone and stop trying to change something that as brought much excitement and drama over the years. I don't want the game to become sterile with pauses in game play. Enjoy the game for what it is.

I dont want either as we wouldnt be able to discuss controversial decisions after games. Football has survived 150 years without technology so why fix what is not broken

Plus you guys probably would have never won a World Cup because of it :winkold:

I'm against it although I can understand why some are in favour.

The problem for me is that where camera's are used in tennis or rugby there is a natural break in the game which simply doesn't occur in football. I also to a degree agree that controversy is part of the game.

The biggest thing for me though is that if they bring in goal line technology it will prove to be the tip of the iceberg and more will follow which will destory the flow of the game.

Sports that use it are stop start games.

Rugby - setting up scrums, line outs, conversions etc

Tennis, point for point

yes Football has pauses, but we moan when its not free flowing.

what about 2 referees like in Basketball?

How can anyone not want it introduced at the top level? Absolutely bizarre.

Because it coulld ruin the flow of the game.

:? No it wouldn't, 30 seconds max to make a decision or in the case of the Lampard goal 10 seconds. The fecking moaning and whining from players takes up more time than that.

Because altho england might still be in the world cup, wed have probably had to put up with watching ireland for at least 3 games

Why anyone would want it at the top level could also be classed as bizarre. But each to their own.

What would your reason be for having it there?

Im definately a no. Footballs greatest asset is its controversy imo

Unless you are at the receiving end of 'controversy' in a game.

Nope, thats part of the character and joy of the game as well.

I'm convinced that people who want tech don't 'get' this.

Mistakes are made but class will shine through. The best teams usually win even if calls go against them. They odd game it doesn't, oh well something to talk about. :)
