Anyone Watching A Good Tv Show?

Anyone else watch season 3 of True Detective ...

Spoiler

... and not like the ending?  It just seemed very contrived.  It's like they were giving us the happy ending while attempting to keep it tantalisingly away from Detective Hays.  It was all very 'meh' for me.  Not worth the investment made.  Which is a pity, because the show up to that point was excellent.  Much closer to season 1 than the abortion that was season 2.  I'll give it a 7 out of 10, marked down from a 9 for the ending.

Finishing it tonight and will look at your spoiler comments afterward.

i’ve not been sucked into this latest offering and in all honesty probably prefer the second series.

However that could all change with a strong finish!

i think i finished it 2 weeks ago - full spoiler

Spoiler

and honestly cant even remember all of how it ended, the kid fell over, the nuns faked her death, they framed the indian guy then something with the dad

again for me its kind of like season 1 where everything about it, the ways its shot, the script, the performances, the look and feel of it all is 10/10 but the actual story is just a bit boring and because its so dense in parts and i'm not completely hooked it loses its way

I had another swing at The Sopranos last night and I just cannot get into it.  I might just have to consign it to the pile, with The Wire, of classic TV shows that just passed me by.

I've yet to even try.  The source material doesn't interest me at all, and the longer I go without watching it, the less likely I am to do so.

Praise be, I'm not alone.

We've had two or three attempts at the first episode and never made it to the end.  I'm looking at it thinking "I can imagine this was good back in the day", but it all feels slow and, I dunno, American?

I think I just prefer something with a bit of pace to it, like Luther or even Big Little Lies.

Glad I'm not the only one. Haven't tried The wire yet, but Sopranos is not for me either.

I love Sopranos. I only watched it 2 or 3 years ago for the first time, so I also missed it first time around. I thought it was so good, but then I've never got past one episode of a Game of Thrones so different strokes and all that.

Also not watched Sopranos.

Watched a couple of episodes back in the day but never got hooked since I missed too many to keep up with the story.

Will likely not bother now.

As mentioned above thou The Wire is great for the most part.

Hadn't watched Breaking Bad up until 2 years ago but binged it. Thought it was pretty good but not quite to the level it was hyped up to be. 7.5-8/10

Yeah, I also like films in that related area too, tbf. Breaking Bad, there's another one, watched 2 seasons and the beginning of season 3 and then just stopped. Never had the inclination to finish it and sometimes it feels like missing the boat, and you think 'ah sod it'

I'm another that didn't get into the Sopranos.  I borrowed the first two series on DVD and watched most of them, just never really enjoyed it.  Mad Men is another that I just didn't like.  I find more and more that there are programmes where I think of starting them but if there are too many series I think I'll never be arsed to watch all of them, so don't bother.

I love mafia movies, I enjoy reading about the mafia, I just feel like I can't be arsed with The Sopranos.

Maybe it's a bit like @sharkyvilla said, where I know there's so much in front of me I'm already apprehensive before I start.

Haven't watched Goodfellas and Casino, from what I remember, I didn't like that much. No, I'm not a mafia film/TV-series person. Excpt for The Godfather. And The untouchables.

p.s That's from the Wire!

I'll say it... and i stand by it... both Goodfellas and Casino are better than the Godfather.

As for the Godfather... i'm with Peter Griffin on this...

I love both The Wire and The Sopranos but The Sopranos gets better with every season whilst The Wire gets worse.

I've probably gone through The Sopranos at least 5 times but have never rewatched The Wire.

Band of Brothers pisses on both mind you.
