KenjiOgiwara
Watching The Blacklist. James Spader is made for that role. Reminds me of Jeremy Piven in Entourage. Some roles just fit certain actors.

It's not great, but mostly its' not bad either. Except for... the first episode. It was absolute shite. So shite that it feels like it must have been a different write or something. It was awful. As a whole the season really wasn't much cop, very strange as even up to 12 the standard was good and hadn't really slipped at all, something just felt off the whole time for some reason.

The first is dreadful. there's also the clipshow, which is always a sign of running out of ideas. I thought the plane episode was dreadful too. There are a couple of good episodes in there, but I think it suffers due to so few episodes having the whole cast together.

The one with the women on the plane was pretty shit, I've only got to the fifth episode so far and unusually not in a rush to finish the series. At least they made it a bit clever. And Frank with hair and long legs had me laughing out loud. But yeah the season hasn't been great

A guest writer from the Big Bang Theory. Honestly it's so bad I'm actually wondering if it's deliberate. Some sort of in joke about the show jumping the shark. The new character with no explanation fits that perfectly.

It was written by the guy who plays Cricket, the show has loads of different writers which explains the difference in quality of episodes.
sne
Blasted through all 4 seasons of The Bureau (or Le bureau des Legendes) Wow it's really good! Low key spy/intelligence series about the French version of MI5, the DGSE that unlike other similar shows manages to address current real world situations without becoming ham-fisted or using explosions and cliffhangers. It's slow, but in a good way, much more Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy than Mission Impossible. Season 1 is good but not spectacular, but it builds and just gets better and better through every season. Really recommend it, easily a 8/10 perhaps even 9/10. 1
TheAuthority Posted January 16, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted January 16, 2019 Watched "Informer" on Amazon Prime. Might have been a Channel 4 or BBC thing over there, not sure. One of those good, slow British cop things that are much better paced than 99% of US police drama. 7.8/10 - kills a few hours.

Stevo985 Posted January 16, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted January 16, 2019 Finished Always Sunny. Poor season overall, with a few highlights here and there. The final scene was amazing though. Didn't expect anything like that to be honest. I actually need to see it again because I kept expecting something funny to happen, because of how the show usually is. The consensus seems to be, it's a lot more season 1 than 2. Never got round to season 2. Too many bad reviews from mates, but I think Vaughan and Farrell are usually OK. Worth a go? Season 1 was so good. Always thought it would be great to see an entire reprise but with Harrelson and McConaughey switching roles.

Worth a go? from memory it wasnt as bad as it was made out to be it just had nothing special about it, you worked your way through it rather than starting it on a friday night and then noticing the sun coming up, i think too many people enjoyed criticising it and shooting it down though, same as it becomes fashionable to like a TV show it became almost fashionable to say how shit season 2 was every week, vaughn was my main problem with it, same as that WW2 film that mel gibson did, i just cant take him as a serious actor, so you then compare him to the first season where the acting was the highlight and you've got a problem im sure there was a thread about it on here

Just make sure to pay attention because it will get a bit complex after a while. Very true, just finished it. Classic time travel paradox SF, and nicely set up for a second series. For anybody about to start it, I recommend printing out the family trees from the Wikipedia page.

It just disappeared up it's own arse and tried to be really complicated and clever and just missed. It got to the stage where I was having to google every episode after I watched it to clarify what was going on. It's not as bad as some make out, but it was just such a disappointment after Season 1 was so good. Looking forward to Season 3 though. Haven't started it yet. Might let a couple of episodes build up and have a binge one day.
PieFacE Posted January 17, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) Trying to watch Sex Education. About 15 minutes into the first episode. What is this shit? It's like an American series which takes the worst characteristics out of different social circles and dumps them all in an English setting with English slang. Wearing 80's clothes but talking about pornhub. I can't get my head around it. It feels so... Fake. Though, Gillian Anderson... Still would. villa4europe
watched the new episode of GT, its ok, problem is its them 3 by the numbers, getting really tired, also feels old, the exorcist was good to see but everything else on the show was behind, the demon in particular was done by TG a long time ago
sne
First 3 eps of The Punisher S2 is OK. It starts of slow, gets a bit better and then a bit better still. since it's 13 eps the story has barely started yet so hard to say how it will fair. But it's starting to kick off. I liked the first season so hopefully this one will be OK as well. As a rule thou I've found the Netflix/Marvels series a couple of episodes too long per season. Never thought that one got out of Scandinavia. When it started in the mid 90's it was really popular and really good. Hasn't aged that well, but the newer films/episodess are decent.
