Kohli taking the piss saying it was a good pitch to bat on.  I guess we can expect the same in the next Test.

The guy is an absolute prick. Honestly is more unlikeable than some of the Australians.

This isn't really just a turning pitch.  The pitches in Sri Lanka were turning pitches and we (Root) coped pretty well.  Every ball in this one is taking a chunk out of the pitch, you can tell by the rotation of the seam that a lot of Axar's deliveries are supposed to turn but they just land and shoot straight on.  Some batsmen have played to cover the line of the ball in case it doesn't turn and got out, some have tried to play for spin and got out, all to pretty much the same delivery.  It's a lottery.  Fair enough after 4 or 5 days in the baking heat it's unavoidable if the pitch starts misbehaving but this is day 2.

Yes India have better spinners than Sri Lanka and I'm not saying this wicket isnt a disgrace but i still think we should be capable of getting between 150/200 on it.

India should be stripped of the victory. A 2 day test is a farce. Nothing will happen of course and it doesn't help when people are too scared to say it like it is.

You get docked points in the championship for preparing bad wickets. One could say its the same for both sides and England made the mistake of picking the extra seamer and bowling so much seam on the first day. Its no good for the game when tests finish in two days though. A big fine should be bare miniimun

England also won the toss

Too many Test players try to play them like an ODI and lack patience. Bad pitch or not, England and India as well needed a middle order player to sit in and grind out a 3 or 4 hour 50

Joe Root took 5-8.

He’s a very decent part time bowler but 5-8 should say everything about this pitch.

it wouldnt be the first time a part-time spinner has come on and taken a bunch of wickets on a turning pitch though. India cant play spin either on turning wickets. Moeen has bowled them out a few times

I can't remember many batsmen getting out to attacking shots though.  They were all trying to defend but there was no way of knowing whether the ball was going to rag square or just shoot on depending on how big a crater the ball landed in or created.  If Alistair Cook, England's most prolific batsman of all time and a very good batsman against spin admitted he had no idea how he would have played it then it says it all.

If you look at County cricket there is a lack of emphasis on playing spin bowling. The fact that Jeetan  Patel who had a very mediocre international record cleaned up against County batsmen proves that.

Axhar Patel 2-4 already and the batsmen have learned nothing.

Crawley just got out because the wicket keeper got into his head; "Boys, someone is getting angry, someone is getting angry!" and Crawley immediately tries to hit it out of the ground and gets caught.

We're mentally weak right now.

15-2 and this could go badly quickly.

the pitch is fine as proven by the second hour. the first hour was **** pathetic from england, shambolic wickets the first two, root missing a pace ball after drinks was poor. Absolute garbage from England. Current partnership is critical. Cannot afford a wicket in the next session. Just bat through.70/0 would be perfectly fine. No rush. Not that I trust Bairstow to not piss his wicket away with some pointless shot soon enough.

We have to bat properly and bat into tomorrow if we're to not be slaughtered.
