It's always been there.

Exactly the answer I was getting at.

You've just broken your own premise that everything requires a designer, meaning the Universe/matter doesn't require one by your own standards.

Science is not making the claim that everything requires a designer. Science is saying "we haven't found the answer to that question yet". And as for your question on what started life, read up on abiogenesis.

How did life/mass get here?

New research shows that microorganisms could have survived a journey from Mars to Earth.

so maybe it came from Mars? or another world somewhere

Err, think you didnt understand the question :)

Not if that premesis is that only things that havent always been they way they are must have been designed to be that way. Science is making the claim that it does not know what we all came from. If we came from something, and science finds out what that thing is, then that only creates another question.

The only answer that would leave no questions left, would be nothing happened to nothing and created everything.

Anyway, what was the topic again?

If the exogenesis theory is true then yes , there has to be life elsewhere purely on the basis that there are other habitable planets out there. Based on probability theory alone , there are many , many other 'earth like' planets out there and there has to be some kind of life on those planets.

No amount of special pleading will fix the contradiction in your premise. All things require a designer except God doesn't follow.

For example, if that is the case and your premise is true, why not say the Universe doesn't require a designer. It's just as valid if we accept your premise.

You clearly don't know what atheist means.

Pleading? What?

The argument from design is pointless. It is complete hypocrisy to say that everything must have a designer......EXCEPT the designer. If "God" was always here, then why can't the universe have always been around ? Occams razor. People believe in God not because of any compelling evidence but purely from a deep rooted NEED to believe . People are scared in general and the idea that they have some magic big daddy looking after them, comforts them.
