So is Vince McMahon really trolling us with Brock Lesnar's return??  What a slap in the face for the competitors in the Mens Money in the Bank. AEW will probably piss all over WWE so long as McMahon is in charge, Triple H must be screwing!!

Yeah I'm done watching now while Vince/Brock are around. He's clearly not listening to the criticism and doesn't give two shits about it while he is getting record TV deals.

Any disaffected WWE Superstars just need to see their contracts out for a few years  get their heads down and just do as Vince says for a bit then we can have AJ et al in AEW. I'm looking forward to Double or Nothing now. Hopefully it's a success.

Really well done PPV, and those men (7) worked **** hard and took massive bumps in that match, only for Vince's cuckold fetish to come in and take the win.

He thinks that the ratings are low because of Becky / Seth. No. What happened was bad storylines and a less than part time champion has put fans off. To blame them for the ratings slump is pathetic, and to think the two men behind the slum - Vince and Brock - are now going to be "improve" the ratings (with Vince making the decisions and Brock turning up every 3 months) is a joke.

I've cancelled my WWE network and cannot wait for AEW.

Well, Double or Nothing was a resounding success in my book. 9/10 for me.

Rhodes' match 😱

And THAT ending. It's great to finally be excited again!

Could this be the beginning of the end for WWE?

I hope not, I hope it kickstarts them into actually caring about wrestling again and starting another fantastic period of time for wrestling. They need Vince to step aside. But he wont so maybe you're right. I do get the impression he'd rather burn it into the ground than hand over the reigns and admit he is past it.

Come October when the weekly show starts I think we're going to need an AEW thread cause the future is now.

Double or Nothing was a phenomenal PPV from start to finish.

This felt like the wrestling I grew up with, this felt like WWE PPV circa. '99/'00 where it was polished, but not to the point where WWE is now with this PG product and LED boards all over the place.

AEW brought good wrestling, meaningful wrestling to the mainstream and I can't wait to see where they take this going forward.

I can't wait to see what else AEW has planned.

By the way Ryan Loco took a phenomenal photo from the end of the PPV which I will spoiler because firstly it's a pretty big image, but secondly if someone comes in that hasn't seen the PPV yet then it's also a huge spoiler... So if you haven't seen Double or Nothing yet and you want to then please don't click this.

Spoiler

Amongst many things I particularly enjoyed whilst watching the show were Jimmy Lloyd representing GCW in the crowd (particularly visible when Bret Hart was on the mic), a dude on the hard cam side in the crowd wearing a friggin Charles Bronson S/T 7" shirt, but mostly how incredibly MJF came across. The guy has developed so quickly into one of the best heels on the mic I've heard in an awful long time.

Cody / Dustin was extremely good.

What did people think of the 'joshi' match, if you haven't seen much of it before? I imagine the mix of silly costumes and hard hitting wrestling may have been quite jarring.

Not encouraged by Janela's showing in the battle royale at all, granted they're terribly hard matches to book, but I really hope he isn't just some sort of spot monkey.

Hikaru Shida 😍

What a main event, topped by the end of the PPV.

The amount of blood in the Cody/Dustin match was excessive to the detriment of how good their performances were.

Amazing what creative freedom can do. Moxley has gone from some upper-mid carder in WWE getting wasted week in and week out, to arguably the hottest thing in wrestling right now. I can't wait to see what he does in AEW. I can't wait to see what he does in NJPW. This is how you get people over WWE. I know you have little children watching, shareholders, sponsors and advertisers, but live a little and give your talent freedom. Treat everyone in your company like Bray Wyatt is treated right now. He was given 100% freedom over the creative process of his new gimmick and it's the only reason people tune in to RAW these days. Jon Moxley is proof that if you give talented people freedom that everyone wins.

Promos like that are what Moxley is all about. Exciting.. Very exciting.

It appears as though it'll be a faction called Death riders, based on a motorcycle club - in the many ways Japan aspires to Western culture, MC's is one of the more niche subcultures, I guess. Perfect for a wrestling faction of course.

It appears straight off the bat he'll have Juice join. Which sounds totally mad, but Juice has done mad things since leaving WWE. I pray that Henare is with them too, perfect fit in an enforcer role. Does he go after Jay and BC first, or Naito and LiJ? Man, I'm more excited for that than his AEW stuff!

So RAW took over an hour to show the first match of the night, and it was a squash match to push some angle forward that no one cares about.

In three long hours RAW only featured four matches and one of them was a squash. The rest of the show was brawls and skits that did nothing to showcase the product.

In a post-Double or Nothing climate I thought WWE would try to change. I mean sure some things changed as WWE actually mentioned AEW on live TV which is different, but that's not the kind of different I, or anyone were expecting.

If WWE thought their Shows and PPV's being taken over by CM Punk chants was bad, then it's only going to get worse. At least with CM Punk the viewers can look him up and see who he was, but with AEW if they do the same they get to witness an alternative to this shit.

WWE needs to change and fast because AEW starts weekly TV in October on TNT in the US which is huge, and on ITV4 in the UK which is in more homes than WWE's new BT Sport deal. This is going to get worse for them.

Jon Moxley vs Joey Janela

There has been no stipulation added to this yet, but given both are deathmatch specialists I'll be surprised if this stays a singles match with no stipulation. I feel kinda bad for Joey though as wins and losses matter in AEW and he's being fed to Moxley here. I know this is AEW and not WWE, but there is no way Jon Moxley is losing in his first match.

Other matches on the card so far;

The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega vs Lucha Bros & ??? (Six-man tag match)

Cody vs Darby Allin (Singles match)

Jebailey vs Michael Nagazawa (Hardcore match)

Looking like a very decent card and perhaps a chance for AEW to show a different side to their brand. Assuming Moxley/Janela gets an extreme stipulation then that would give this card two likely very bloody matches. I don't know how people feel about that, but bumping up the violence a bit is a good way to prove that AEW isn't WWE.

Moxley burying Vince on Jericho's podcast. This reminds me of the monday night wars.

Listening to that podcast was infuriating. Vince sounds like a nightmare to work with and yet talent are forced to because what he says goes. Vince seems to run WWE like it's a toy. He has all this infrastructure of writers and producers, and yet it doesn't matter because Vince seems to be the only one that matters. Vince needs to leave as even without AEW on the scene he's doing a damn fine job of killing his company. Sure he signed a huge deals with Saudi Arabia and FOX so WWE are making more money than ever, but money isn't everything and Vince will learn that one way or another.
