But...

...why?

as per the article:

“Through this activity, it is possible to turn a green street red, which has an impact in the physical world by navigating cars on another route to avoid being stuck in traffic,” Weckert wrote.

In his statement, Weckert cited a journal article by the German anthropologist Moritz Ahlert: “Google’s map service has fundamentally changed our understanding of what a map is, how we interact with maps, their technological limitations, and how they look aesthetically.

“What is the relationship between the art of enabling and techniques of supervision, control and regulation in Google’s maps? Do these maps function as dispositive nets that determine the behaviour, opinions and images of living beings, exercising power and controlling knowledge? Maps, which themselves are the product of a combination of states of knowledge and states of power, have an inscribed power dispositive.”

But yeah, shits and giggles.

On the phones / google maps thing, many people have definitely lost the ability to think for themselves.

On a recent trip in to work, a 10 mile commute a road was showing as closed and there was even a real life metal road sign. Critically, the road sign said ‘access only’. So the sat nav warning was self fulfilling in that everyone was stopping and turning and thinking about alternative routes.

I thought, if there access, then its not actually closed. So I drove down an empty road on the quietest commute I’d ever had.

Admittedly, if they’d put out some dead birds and cows, a la Close Encounters, then perhaps I’d have turned around like everyone else.

So another crash with a Boeing involved, this time in Turkey. This one slipped off the runway so might be a human error but still.

Lots of injured but hopefully no deaths.

Every time you read something a bout Boeing it's something negative.

British tourist David Abel says he and his wife Sally have been tested positive for coronavirus but doubts they have it

David Abel, the British tourist who has provided updates while quarantined on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, says he and his wife Sally have been tested positive for coronavirus.

The passenger wrote in a Facebook post that it would be a "time of quiet" after being "proved positive".

But he later said in a comment to friends that he "doubted" whether the test was positive.

He also said he had shown no symptoms.

In a subsequent post he added that he "smelled a rat" and believed there was a conspiracy to keep passengers quiet.

An entire class of children was evacuated from a swimming pool after a prosthetic leg was mistaken for a paedophile.

Teachers from Kings Hill Primary School in Kent spotted the leg poking out from a cubicle whilst taking their class of year 4 children swimming at Larkfield Leisure Centre.

They believed it belonged to a “peeping Tom” and after alerting staff evacuated the 60 children from the pool post-haste.

Head teacher Kerry Thomas told the Kent Messenger:“One of the members of staff had seen it, and we quickly moved the children out, and everything was dealt with in accordance with school policy.”

Yet upon investigation it was found that the leg belonged to a disabled man who had left it on the floor of the cubicle while he went for a swim.

Larkfield Leisure Centre declined to comment. However the story has raised eyebrows online, with historian Tim Stanley writing in the Telegraph that it was like something out of TV satire ‘The Day Today’ and adding “I can’t wait to read about the paedophile who was mistaken for a prosthetic leg”.

Others asked how teachers were able to tell that the prosthetic leg belonged to a paedophile. “Do paedophiles have different artificial limbs?” tweeted one reader.

An Ohio Man Brought A Llama To His Sister's Wedding

A Cleveland man’s unlikely date to his sister’s wedding last weekend has made him a viral sensation.

During a 2015 drive from Ohio to Indiana, Mendl Weinstock promised his sister Riva that he would only attend her future wedding if he could bring along a llama. Riva, who was then 17 and single, rolled her eyes and balked at the suggestion.

“She was talking about her wedding almost as if it was going to happen the next day,” Mendl, now a 21-year-old student at the University of Akron in Ohio, told HuffPost. “Sitting in a car for five hours listening to this was driving me crazy. So I wanted to see if I could get a reaction out of her.”

Riva (left) didn't appear to be especially amused by her brother's gesture.

The mayor of Easter Island has called for vehicle restrictions to be introduced around its archaeological sites after a pickup truck hit one of the famous stone statues, causing “incalculable” damage.

A Chilean man who lives on the island, in Polynesia, was arrested after the incident on Sunday and has been charged with damaging a national monument, according to the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio de Valparaíso. The platform on which the statue stood was also damaged in the crash, it reported.

About 1,000 of the figures, known as moai, are dotted around the island, which local people call Rapa Nui.

Armed police were scrambled to Cardiff park after a member of the public reported spotting a man with a sword.

It turned out that he was a local man out on his permitted lockdown exercise who had simply chosen to wear a fancy dress knight’s outfit – complete with a toy sword.

A spokeswoman for South Wales police later said:

At 3.10pm on Wednesday 13th May, South Wales police received a report from a member of the public that a man was seen at Hendre Lakes in Cardiff with a sword.

Officers were deployed to the scene where they located a young man who was in fancy dress carrying a toy sword. No criminal offences were committed and the man was given suitable advice.

Porn star Nacho Vidal held in Spain after man dies in toad-venom ritual

Quote

A Spanish porn actor is being investigated on suspicion of manslaughter after a photographer died during a toad-venom ritual, police say.

Nacho Vidal, 46, and two others were briefly detained last Friday over the death.

Spanish police said the photographer died after inhaling the poison of an endangered North American toad.

The "mystic ritual" reportedly took place at Mr Vidal's home near the southern city of Valencia last July.

A lawyer for Mr Vidal said his client "considers himself to be innocent", describing the death as an unfortunate accident.
