My old picasso is showing signs of age - and I think its time to trade it in. I can't afford a new car but was thinking of another picasso about 3 years old - but just wondered if anyone has any experience with the renault scenic?

I love the French, really, I'm learning the language, I go there on holiday every year, love the place and the people

I'd never buy their cars apart from a diesel powered Peugeot

Ask any auto spark, French cars = nightmares

The picasso has been great , in 7 years , only minor bills, such as break pads, exhaust , and of course tyres. - Be well happy if the next one was as good.

Most unreliable \ expensive cars have been Rover (Sadly) followed by a ford escort

such as break pads

Why does EVERYONE spell this wrong? :-)

Oh and I have a Rover 75, had it almost a year and its probably the best motor I've ever had (and I've had a lot!)

All things being equal, the Scenic is a more numerous car on the roads so spare parts should be easier to come across. Though they don't have a particularly good reputation...

Wikipedia says that car won some beauty awards.

Surely that's a case of someone having a laugh?

If you can afford it, buy German. French cars are hell. You got lucky once, don't risk another spin of the wheel, get a decent older VW/etc. They tend to be largely bomb proof, hold their value and age well.

Heh, I thought he meant a 1975 Rover, one of these buggers:

I agree buy German. My wife has an audi a2, had it 4 years and it has only had new tyres on it each year and a cam belt change - she does 500+ miles per week.

55-65mpg and cheap road tax. Planning on changing it soon, probably for a newer A2.

The bottom one is known as a P6, I had one of them back in the 80's

(and I'm ignoring you Levi ;-) )

Our family car is a Citroen Picasso and never had any problems with it over the past 5 years. Granted, it doesn't do many miles and my wife normally drives it - But it a very good car.

Then, my parents have a Renault Scenic (they always buy Renault) and this is probably the better car. A much easier drive with additional features.

If I could pick, I'll go for the Scenic, but the Picasso is the cheaper option.
