sled Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 I was going to vote for Ashley Young as MOTM anyway when suddenly the voice on the tannoy said it was Milner, and immediately Ash shot up the field and scored, almost as if to say stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Is he better on the left or on the right? I also thought Heskey made some choice contributions. And yes Jimmy was very good too. The defence as a block, hmm. And the less said about Guzan the better. Every one played well, first few 20 minutes were horrible, but we came back fantasticly, such a great game. Credit to every player in claret and blue on that pitch. When is the final?? Back 4 looked shaky for every cross, no confidence in him. Hopefully just a blip as he has shown lots of potential. Cuellar - 4 - Not a fullback. Passing is just poor, got better in the 2nd half to be fair. But he plays like a centre half, dived in twice in the build up to their third goal and left his man free. Out of position for the second goal aswell. Dunne - 8 - Great stuff throughout Collins - 6 - Did ok Warnock - 6 - Did ok Young - 7 - Great goal, great cross for the 1st. Petrov - 6 - Did well, but for their 2nd goal, they had 5 men attacking, Stan should be covering one of the runners from midfield, he didn't, kalinic stood in space and he didn't cover him, watch the goal again and watch stans movement, not good enough. Milner - 8 MOTM - Looked lost for 20 minutes but then ran the show. Great pen, great goal with the left. Great pass for heskeys goal. Worked like a dog. Downing - 7 - Always available and always moving, liking him a lot. Heskey - 5 - Scored, wahay! Nearly missed it though and was ineffective all game. Not on the same wavelength as the rest of our attackers, had a couple of chances for 1-2's and just didn't have the vision to see them. Gabby - 6 - Worked hard but didn't get many chances. We only play well when Milner plays well, when he is on form the rest of the team play that much better. Blackburn fans sounded like they gave it just as much as the villa fans so well done to them. Fat Sam can STFU, we had 2 penalties turned down at ewood. TheTransferWindow Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 Yeah Guzan looked shaky for most of the game, but the defending tonight was horrible at times. 1st goal yeah he flapped at. 2nd goal was just awful, Cuellar got burned and Guzan made a great save but no one was marking Kalinic. 3rd goal was not his fault and the 4th goal went through a crowd and was deflected at the last second. I'd play Young at RB in the final and flip a coin between Cuellar and Collins at CB. Not sure about Guzan, it would be pretty harsh to drop him.
