I know - the problem is now there are precedents being set and where does it stop. Sneak a winger on who scores a try in the last minute. How can they then say it shouldn't be allowed.

Playing with more men than is allowed (oooo errrr missus) is a fundamental law of the game?, the fact that they did so for a period of time and the extra man actually was involved in a key moment invalidates the result is the argument. Its a difficult one to argue against

But if we look at precedents then we ignore it

England were fined £10,000 during the 2003 World Cup when wing Dan Luger featured as a 16th player for 34 seconds of their group-stage win against Samoa in Melbourne.

Precendent doesn't suggest it, and the rules of the ECL don't actually allow it. It's wrong. Simple.

Harlequins should have been banned for 2-3 years from european rugby, ospreys should get a 1 year ban suspended for 5 years - if they trangress again, banned.

Rugby Union has a real problem with disciplinary actions at the moment - the gouging goes from 12 weeks ban, to 8 weeks ban to 70 weeks ban.

It would be simpler to say that every offence is incremental, ie first player caught, 8 weeks, 2nd player 10 weeks, 3rd player 12 weeks, 4th player 14 weels. 5th player 16 weeks........etc

It means you know you are going to lose a large portion of the season when you play naughty.

Wales team announced :)

Cooper is in :( :(

Powell is in at 6 :( :(

It seems roles-reversed for the Twickenham game - Wales' tight 5 are better than the English, but the English backline looks pretty dangerous should they get enough ball.... :) Looking forward.

I think this tournament's going to be won by England - no slam, though.

Cipriani off to Australia:

Danny Cipriani has made up his mind to move to Australia and join the Melbourne Rebels, The Times has been told.

The fallen idol of English rugby has decided to cut his losses and commit himself to the new Super 15 franchise in Victoria. It is understood that his decision to make a fresh start 10,000 miles away was relayed to Rod Macqueen, the Rebels head coach, yesterday. In confirming his interest in Cipriani on Wednesday, Macqueen had said how highly he rated him.

Once details on a likely two-year contract worth more than £200,000 a season are confirmed and a formal offer made, and provided there are no last-minute hitches, he will travel Down Under in October with Kelly Brook, his actress girlfriend. In doing so he will become the first England international to play club rugby in Australia in the professional era. His capture will be a coup for the team, who hope to attract up to five leading players from Britain.

Will he come back a better player?

Wales were pants yesterday, how many times can you fumble a ball, miss a pass and lose cheap possession in a game? Next weeks game against Scotland is must win for them.

England didn't look much better, but they took their chances. France look composed. Ireland looked half arsed, although it wasn't helped by Italy doing a rugby equivalent of parking the bus. Scotland were meh.

Still say whoever wins the France - Ireland game will go on to win it.
