Ponky
Milner went to right-back when Heskey came on. I think we were by far the superior team in the second half, no coincidence Burnley were also more threatening with gale force winds behind them. We deserved a point in the sense that we created more than enough half-chances and one or two clear chances before Heskey scored. Friedel was probably our best. Warnock, Cuellar and probably Gabby looked the only ones really up for it today. By God you have some shit weather in England!!! Does the fact that our boys train in a heated, undercover training ground put us at a disadvantage in conditions like that?
Nigel Posted November 21, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted November 21, 2009 The fact that Downing got on the pitch overshaddows this game for me, not to mention his performance once he got on. This bodes well for us once his fitness returns!
dappadan
Shocking effort. Whilst he got the goal, what the hell was Heskey doing being put at RB? Some of these decisions are baffling. At least watch the match if you are going to commentate, Heskey was never at RB. Baffling. But he came on for Luke Young, so how does that work? MON and his ridiculous, baffling tactics. Edit up the Villa
NorthEnder
First team to take a point at Turf Moor. first team to take a point but not points wigan won there, all that means is that burnley havent had a home draw yet, its not a great sclap that we are first team to draw there. Reality
Shocking effort. Whilst he got the goal, what the hell was Heskey doing being put at RB? Some of these decisions are baffling. He came on for a right back you fool, doesn't mean he played there. Its what sides do when they're losing, take off a defender for a striker, its called throwing the kitchen sink I couldn't watch the match you clearing in the woods, and I read on the forum he was at RB. i've read a lot of things on this forum that i wouldn't take seriously. 4th place with a clueless manager and some shit players, how do we do it? We would be deadly if tactics were used properly and stubbornness were removed from our efforts.

Luke Young goes off. Milner takes up WING BACK (more attacking than FULL BACK), Warnock pushes up. Then some weird fluid formation ensues in front of the back four. It just seemed everyone up front (bar Petrov who still played defensive mid) was playing everywhere. Don't get it wrong, it was definately an attacking change, probably MONs All-Out Attacking formation. A tactically sound change. Just shouldn't have let it get to that point tbh. Edit: Oh dear, Trog got us both Gonna leave it here so all can see my stupidity. And it's for those that actually think Heskey was at RB

villa_chemist
Crap streams this afternoon, so I couldn't work out what position Downing played. Any clues to MON's plans for the team when Downing is 100%?

Gringo
First half was not very good at all Second half better, but still not cracking open the champers. Did deserve a point as burnley posed as little threat as ourselves for most of the match.

Pilchard
Good stuff: We came back from behind. Despite being crap we've got a point. Emile has scored. Downing got to play. A tactical change made by Martin O'Neill actually got us a goal. Burnley is a hard place to go and not to win is no bad thing. I got the Heskey on for a fullback substitute bang on. I don't need to stay up late to watch it on MOTD because it was crap. Big John will continue to basically spend his posting life taking swipes at posters here. Bad Things: We appear to have played very poorly. We just don't seem to be very good away from home Sidwell/Petrov partnership is not working and a bizarre choice when you have as player on the bench who has played well when he has played this season. We really needed to win this game to catch up on earlier lost points should we actually want to have the aims that we have We don't seem to look like a team. Carew is way, way out of form. Gabby's stopped scoring. Ashley Young in central midfield just isn't going to work. Famine.
