Kids today will never know the “struggle” of life before Amazon.

We had to look for something on eBay the other day and my lad was asking when it would arrive. I was trying to explain that it’ll depend on when the seller puts in the post, how far away it is. Which delivery service they use. Probably 2-5 days from now. Shocked face.

If we buy it from Amazon we can get one before 7pm tonight or the other one tomorrow pretty much guaranteed.

That’s quite a thin tip you’re using there. Do they do one a little thicker?

Oh yeah, I’m covering everything from 0.2 to 1.0 and then Pentel Sign Pens for chunky free hand sketches.

I used to be a fan of the Uni Ball Eye ‘fine’ but the ink in those can come out in blobs now and again and as I say, my writing style then causes me to smudge that all over the paper. The Uni Pin is pretty much instantly dry.

Are we in the wrong thread?

Never let the takeaway carton run down too low...

The carton that Chan’s use for mixed bean sprouts and noodles is bang on the right size for the Uni Pin.

This is my pen carton. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My pen carton is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Without me, my pen carton is useless. Without my pen carton, I am useless.

Normally, I'd be able to move a post to another thread, and though I tried, I couldn't with these ones - because as it turns out.....

you can't move a stationery post.

VT legend "Double J" Jenny Jones on BBC Breakfast this morning, talking about how to stay entertained at home. She spoke a bit about exercise, the weather, and being a WUM on internet forums.

It blows the speculation out of the water that she didn't mention Lego.

It's actually beginning to really wind me up (ignoring lockdown) that I am finding more and more things that I can now only buy from Amazon or Ebay.  You know, just stuff. So many shops and specialist sellers now gone.

We also seem to be engaged in a race to the bottom.

If you want to buy something, probably anything these days you have 2 choices:

1) Really expensive top quality

2) Cheap and nasty

There is a pretend middle of the road but it's generally just cheap and nasty with a middle of the road price tag.

I’m currently all about the Mitsubishi Uni Pin Fine Line 0.4

Deviating away from your choice of writing implement, I just love these large Japanese corporations and the breadth of services they offer.

Mitsubishi, who not only make fine pens and cars, also dabble with hand dryers, elevators, air conditioners, ships, missiles and space launch vehicles. The company catalogue must be interesting.

Similar with Kawasaki, Yamaha and Hitachi to a degree. Think Hyundai and Samsung are similar in Korea.

It seems to be very specific to that region, companies like that, who cover a huge range of industries.

It used to be a Western thing. Big conglomerates with multiple operations.  The idea being when one area takes a dip the rest of the business supports it and vice versa.

But it fell out of fashion and it was deemed better to specialise and excel in one area without management being distracted by peripheral activities, hence all those big conglomerates splitting themselves up in the 80's.

I'd love to have been at the board meeting of renowned piano makers Yamaha, when somebody said "Hey, why don't we start making motorbikes?"

I had a British Leyland pen. It leaked ink all over my shirt then fell apart

"Any other business?"

"How about outboard motors for speedboats as well as motorbikes?"

:D
