I don't think they're specifically aimed at children, they just happen to be bear shaped, although I guess they'd be more suitable for toddlers as opposed to regular walkers crisps.

Have you tried the 'bacon twins' variant, only available in Spain or they were I think and of Germanic origin

The only ones I've tried are the ones in the red packet, haven't had them in a while, don't get crisps too often, just remember the few times that I've had pom-bears I've really liked them.

It’s not high up on my list of crisp flavours. But out of those three it’s easily the best

Whats your top three?

I can’t rank the three main crisp flavours (ready salted, cheese and onion and salt and vinegar), it’s too difficult.

I read that as porn-bears at first glance, and thought there must be some really weird corners of the internets out there.

Noooo, I'm not saying they're the best flavours, I'm saying out of those three flavours (the three standard originals, I believe), I can't decide which is 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Now people are talking about lime, coriander, bacon and paprika and I'm longer in control of this situation.

they are basically two (smaller) bears instead of one, kind of holding hands if that makes sense and bacon flavour and in a brownish bacony coloured packet

Good question.

If we’re talking “standard flavours” then I’d say

1. Barbecue

2. smoky bacon

3. Paprika

If you open it up to any flavour ever like all the gourmet stuff then it’s a whole other ball game

Brannigan's beef & english mustard are the best, but it has to be one of the packs which has been dusted more than regular bags to get maximum nose burn.

I haven't had a packet since I moved house 4 years ago, but I still keep an eye out in local stores.. alas.. I feel as though I shall never again taste them :( :(

I like those jalapeno max strong crisps, they're the only "hot" crisp which is actually thing like hot.

Beef monster munch are good

Doritos (if dusted to excess) are good

Beef hula hoops are good

McCoys are decent

Roysters Beef are excellent

Chicken flavoured crisps are always good

Chicken and thyme sensations are amazing too.

Perhaps one for the gastronomic perversions thread, I once knew someone who would eat hula hoops by chewing one up in their mouth, spitting the mulch back out into the middle of a fresh hula hoop then eating them together.  They claimed the texture clash improved the experience.  Out of morbid curiosity, I tried it once.  I wouldn't recommend it.

What I want to know is how they/you first discovered or thought to even do this?

I saw holes, and had something in my mouth to fill them.

Note, I did this when I was about 8

Has the habit stuck though?  I don't know at what age my former colleague started practicing it, but she was still doing it into her late teens/early 20s when I met her.

Surely everyone puts hula hoops on each finger and bites them off individually.

I haven't been able to get a hula hoop on my sausage fingers since I was about 9. I still try every time though.
