Well I have never had a cleaner decluttered house in all my life... f**k me I'm going to be bored next weekend....

I’ve bought a toothbrush so I can paint the skirting boards next weekend.

Well in these strange times, I am actually looking forward to going to work!!!!!!

Same here, Monday mornings don’t hold the same dread anymore. No more 40 minute drive to work means 40 mins extra chill time. Barring the odd queue for the bathroom and a cat-jam on the stairs, the traffics been pretty good!

Exactly I woke up with a spring in my step knowing I can go outside and actually go and do something 😁

I was looking forward to WFH but my gf is also now working fro home (Monday to Wednesday)

Which takes the shine off it. I can't do as much wanking and video game playing with her here.

Just power through mate.

It'll shock her initially, but she'll soon grow to appreciate it.  Y'never know, she might join in one day.

Doubt it. She doesn't really like Mario Kart

I wanted to take advantage of my isolation and grow a wild beard. Turns out though I’ve developed alopecia of the face and now have bald patches in my stubble. Why the hell that’s happened I’ve no idea? It wouldn’t be so bad if it was the whole beard, I wouldn’t have to shave again. But it’s only in patches, meaning I have to shave everyday to not look like a weirdo.

Has anyone here ever had this happen?

Alopecia of the face has been my experience since I was about 13. I will never be able to grow a proper beard.

Not even a moustache. I wouldn't want one, they're a bit noncey, but when I try, I get what I can only describe as a "reverse Hitler".

The reverse hitler isn’t a good look, it’s second only to the classic hitler in the bad tache stakes. Have they ever said what caused it?

Yes mate, I’m currently going through it myself. Have you had any bad stress recently? Are you aware of any underlying health condition you might have?

There is no hard evidence that stress causes it (as it’s virtually impossible to empirically prove) but there’s certainly a strong belief that a stress event can trigger an occurrence of alopecia. I lost my Dad last year which is what seemed to cause mine.
I went to see a GP who diagnosed alopecia but suggested I’d be best to see a dermatologist. I get private healthcare through work, but the provider won’t cover alopecia treatment unless it is caused by an underlying health condition (such as a thyroid problem). I had my bloods tested and they all came back normal. As a starting point, I’d get yours checked and go from there.

In terms of treatment, I didn’t want to **** about - I always have stubble as being clean shaven doesn’t suit me - so I found a top dermatologist on Harley Street. He prescribed two creams (Elidel and Elocon), a lotion (Minoxidil) and a course of steroid tablets. I started the creams & lotion, but not the tablets as they lower your immune system*.

I had to get the cream through the dermatologist’s private prescription (they’re about ~£80 for the two) whilst the Minoxidil can be found cheaper online (Kirkland brand). If you can get an NHS GP to prescribe you the stuff then it would be at NHS prescription prices (£9 per item or something?).

My bald patch is under my chin, around part of my neck area. I’ve recently started to see some regrowth from just the creams and lotion. I’m hoping that they’ll do the trick alone, the regrowth will continue and thicken up, and that I won’t ever need the tablets (which I wouldn’t now use until COVID-19 is under control and there’s a vaccination). Good luck and DM me if you need any more info.

*Massive credit to the specialist who suggested I held back on the tablets until Coronavirus was better understood as he warned it could get nasty and end up here (my first consultation with him was back in Feb edit: actually it was January) so that was some excellent foresight by him.

Thanks for the reply @Morley_crosses_to_Withe.

A few people have mentioned stress but I’m no more stressed than any other time. I think I’ll take your advice though and get it checked out just in case there’s something else underlying. I’m 40 now so I expect things will start going wrong soon.

I can live with it for now so I’ll wait for the pandemic to finish first.

Medication so you can grow a beard is the most hipster thing I will read this week.
