Didn't know you designed some of the England kits @NurembergVillan ! That's fantastic. Not so fantastic that you designed for Spurs 👎

As you can tell I'm typing while I listen - if you don't get a Villatalk meme in before the end (i.e. ScubaSteve) I will be very disappointed.

Sadly didn't manage to get any VT memes into the chat.  There was too much at stake!

This? Every!

It's a mental institute if we win, it's Chernobyl when we draw, it's Hiroshima when we loose.

It's bloody never fun in there apart from maybe last years final. Bit too long between cheery moments for me :D

I've got a question which involves mental health, work, and a few other things. Just looking for advice really, would this be the best place for it?

There's another thread for this and its helped me a lot, cant link it to you now because I'm trying to send you a snapchat of me gobbling off an ocelot.

Been around that Croydon today.

Have to say, the more I see of it the more I like it. I know it can have a reputation for being a bit shabby, and I did also somehow manage to get in an argument with some random woman who decided it was my fault the place she was visiting was closed. To be fair, it was clearly my fault, I was the person stood closest to it when she realised it was shut.

But other than that, great train service, funky trams, driverless cars wandering around. Some funky buildings, lots of food choices, a street market. I even went and had a quick look at Gross Domestic Product which was a fun bit of street theatre.

I appreciate the sun was shining and I had money in my pocket and an hour to kill, but still, there are far worse places (I’m looking at you, Ashton Under Lyne).

Also, managed to absolutely smash my cross London time. Rocked up at train station, train was in, got on it and off it went. Off the train, Jubilee line tube was in so I just marched on. Off at Baker Street, Bakerloo line tube was in so I just marched on. Off at Paddington, up to the train station and on the train as the buzzer was going for doors closing. I reckon I was walking through Croydon at 2:45, on the train out of Padd at 3:15 (pm in the afternoon). A different day, that’s over an hour.

Wait, what? Is this actually a thing? Not just on telly programs about the future?

Yep, well they were on test and had warnings on them, but yep.

I think one had started life as a mondeo, not sure what the other one was, too many boxes and aerials and graphics on it. But they were up and down the side streets of Croydon all day, out there on real streets dealing with buses and people.

Watching the Liverpool (pre)game in 4K on my new UHD TV... looks the same as HD.

I didn’t buy it for this reason, but I was expecting to be slightly impressed.

I don't think I've ever watched a game in HD

Luddite when it comes to stuff like that.

Croydon

It used to have loads of record shops. A nice mix too: specialist, family run, old boys behind the counter and major megastores.

It was certainly better than Camden and gave Soho a run for its money.

Beanos was really interesting. One of the best Indies in the UK.

There was a Reggae shop down a narrow passage, that ran a speaker way up onto the main pedestrianised drag.

It moved, but it's still in Croydon somewhere, maybe? 101 Records is still there too.

Hadn't been for years, then got jury service at the courts a couple of years ago.

It wasn't quite as desperate as it seemed a decade ago.

Boxpark has lifted East Croydon, it works well there.

I must have got pretty close to the reggae shop ‘cos I could here it bumping and I caught site of an advertising A board on the street, but I was striding back to work by then. I’ll have a hunt for it Friday.

Yeah boxpark looked popular.

The camera I took broke early on, so I was a bit gutted about that. Not least ‘cos I spent £20 thinking it was the memory card needing a replacement. So I’ll take something else next time, but I think the weather is due to turn so bit of a bummer.

I watched one at a mate's house, when he raved about how superior HD was. He flipped between the HD channel and the normal one to demonstrate. I couldn't see any difference. Or, if there was, it may have been marginally different, but not especially better. Then again, I don't hear all these supposed differences between CDs, mp3s and vinyl, either.
