Mister_Master
Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Benfica winger Angel Di Maria on a six-year deal, as new manager Jose Mourinho builds his squad for the new season. Di Maria is currently on international duty with Argentina at the World Cup in South Africa, but will swap the Portuguese league for the Spanish Primera Division once the competition has ended for a fee reported to be in the region of €25 million. A statement on Madrid's official website read: "Real Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Angel di Maria. The player will sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid.'' The 22-year-old won the double with Benfica last season and was named the league's player of the year. He started his career with Rosario Central in Argentina before moving to Benfica in 2007 and is viewed as one of Europe's finest young talents. Speaking about his move, Di Maria said: "It is an honour to know that Jose Mourinho wants to sign me. It will be very nice to play in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo and many other stars, but for now I'm focused on the Argentina team." Argentina coach Diego Maradona had heaped praise on the winger before the tournament, saying: "He is a spectacular player, who is growing day by day. He faces defenders continually and that's what people pay for today in the world. I hope they [benfica] sell him for €200 million and earn a lot of silver." Only 25M, bad deal... very bad. GarethRDR
ITALY/ FIORENTINA, The new idea is Ramires Fiorentina have set their sights on Brazilian international and Benfica midfielder Ramires (23). ITALY/ AC MILAN, JUVENTUS & FIORENTINA, Duel for Veloso As stated by Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso (24) after World Cup match Portugal-North Korea, "After the end of World Cup I think I'm going to leave Portuguese championship and join Serie A. AC Milan, Juventus and Fiorentina have all targeted me, and I'm ready to join any of them". Can't really see either of these happening as far as Fiorentina is concerned, the one area we don't really need to strengthen anymore is the middle of the park (especially after buying Gaetano D'Agostino). Mario Bolatti and Adem Ljajić will probably both play bigger roles next season too. I'd welcome Ramires though.
