Roni Size - New Forms vs Leftfield - Leftism

I've been listening to both tonight, absolutely classic albums from years gone by, both ground breaking at the time, both sounding fairly fresh now (both available on Spotify)

If you had to pick one, and banish one for the rest of time which would you go for?

You'd have to live with the consequences of the said album never existing though, all those that have been influenced since will not ever have existed...

New Forms had Brown Paper Bag and Heroes, but Leftism had Space Shanty, Storm 3000, Original, Melt and Song Of Life.

To it's disadvantage, Roni Size remastered New Forms last year and ruined Heroes, the track with the best beats on the album.

Leftism for me.

If it was really to vote one through as though the other one never existed, I'd put Leftism through. I think that Jungle would have developed in the same way without New Forms (I'm assuming that I'm killing the album and not Roni Size), and would probably have had a breakthrough album at the next Mercury awards anyway. Leftism was a real breakthrough for it's genre, in my opinion.

If it is about the one that I still listen to the most, then New Forms.

T'is the only song i heard and liked. BUT, the version on iTunes is nothing like the one i heard. I'm pretty sure the one i heard was on a compilation album like those NOW thats what i call music. It was Roni Size ft. some bloke.

It is my aim to find it.

Dirty Beats is not on New Forms. Its a **** cracking tune with a great video though

A lot of Roni Size stuff is credited as Roni Size featuring Represent, who are his band. I remember seeing them on the New Forms tour which was a real eye opener for me. Drum and Bass music performed with a live band rather than just some guy standing behind a laptop. It was really great to look at.

Leftism is a stone cold classic album though. Still sounds as fresh as ever and its almost 15 years old and it is one of the most beautifully paced albums I have ever heard. from the calm before the storm to to Johnny Rotten's cameo is pretty much faultless. I adore it.

Much as I love my DnB and much as New Forms is a classic, I think Leftism is the better album.

It was the original after all. The one on iTunes is slower and without the 'violin' bits. Which sucks.
