DreadPirateRoberts Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I thought I'd start a poll to decide one of the most divisive issues ever at Villa Park. Which side of the Holte was the best????
ChrisVillan Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Well when I was a kiddy I used to go on the Holte with my dad, and I stood on one side consistently. Since the seats were put in, the couple of season tickets I've had have been on the other side. Both for no particular reason, but I know which one I'm most fond of.
LancsVillan Posted October 27, 2005 Moderator Posted October 27, 2005 always stood on the left with the lads from Redditch when I moved and then met and starting going with blandy we were more central so why did I get a "Right side of The Holte" Villatalk t-shirt ah beer!
villahero Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 the right is louder ( thanks to the bloke who always stands up , turns around and starts a chorus of ' Holteenders in the sky' ) but the left certainly has more flags !!!
drat01 Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Nice one young owl man Right side aldridge, brownhills, kingstanding lads
NurembergVillan Posted October 27, 2005 Moderator Posted October 27, 2005 Villa fans have always been divided. The left side was for Ellis lovers.
DreadPirateRoberts Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 But surely any shout of "THE RIGHT SIDE" met an instant and deserved shout of "SHIT"
marks61 Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Always a right sider, I think the reason is that we (me and jub and co) used to travel to VP on lloyds coaches from Nuneaton which parked in Electric Avenue so we just arrived on that side

Guest RantinRob Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 We always used to congregate under the left hand floodlight in the 70's when I went with me dad Then in the 80's I meandered over to the right, just behind the bottom corner where all the nutters stood. Ahhhhh, the good old days
bickster Posted October 27, 2005 Moderator Posted October 27, 2005 It has to be the Right Side (a) cos thats where I stood right by the centre fence (which wasnt central - go figure that logic) and just behind the first horizontal walkway ( the left side was Shit
avfc102001 Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Being a true Villa fan I only have eyes for the left side.
thecraft Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 As is true in many areas of my life, I was well and truly on the left
Amsterdam_Neil_D Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Ahhhhh, the good old days Your not wrong........oh how I miss it :-(
jimmygreaves Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Why can't they bring back the terracing on the Holte. It was ace. You can have safe terracing can't you? The place would be absolutely packed out, cheaper entrance price thus more people come to watch. I'm sure this would balance any perceived losses due to cheaper tickets.
villadude Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I remember being embarrassed when I took my young nephew to a game, we stood on the left as I normally did, and he hadn't told me he had brought an air horn with him. All very well, but it was one of those crappy little ones that made a shitty squeak rather than a good loud blast like the proper bigger air horns. I remember everybody taking the piss and laughing at the noise it made, I really was dying out there, but didn't have the heart to take it off him!

THE RIGHT SIDE!
