BOF Posted July 19, 2009 Author Moderator Share Posted July 19, 2009 No Gabby, Jimmy or Gardner then Trio let off Peace Cup duty with Aston Villa GABBY Agbonlahor, James Milner and Craig Gardner will be excused Peace Cup duty with Villa after being given the rest of the month off to recover from their England U21 exertions. The Young Lions trio will not be on the plane to Spain for the pre-season tournament on Thursday and will not report back for training until early August, just two weeks before the Premier League kick-off. O’Neill has taken the decision to give Agbonlahor, Milner and Gardner an extended break after they were involved with Stuart Pearce’s U21s at the European Championships in Sweden until late June. But the Villa boss has confirmed that the international contingent of John Carew, Ashley Young, Stiliyan Petrov and Emile Heskey will resume training tomorrow and fly out for the Peace Cup in southern Spain. “Our international players didn’t finish until June 10 and don’t come back until Monday and that’s the likes of Stiliyan Petrov, John Carew, Emile Heskey and Ashley Young,” said O’Neill. “Our U21 players don’t come back until the beginning of next month and they’ll miss the tournament in Spain. “The other players will come back and travel with us and we’ll see what they’re like then. I accept that other clubs have done things differently and brought their senior players back earlier but this is the way we’ve planned it.” O’Neill refused to comment on mounting speculation linking him with a £2 million move for Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin and an increased £7 million offer for Leeds teenager Fabian Delph. I assume that'll mean a youngster on the right flank then as that's effectively all 3 potential right wingers rested (unless we go with the ridiculous idea of NRC over there again - and I don't even wanna hear about Ash swapping sides..). BOF Posted July 24, 2009 Author Moderator Share Posted July 24, 2009 Well the opening game is in 2hrs 20 minutes The Group B glamour tie(sic) between Al-Ittihad and LDU Quito Streams are here. All things being equal, you would expect LDU to knock three shades of the brown stuff out of Al-Ittihad as they are the 2008 Libertadores champions, 2009 Recopa Sudamericana champions and were runners up in the 2008 FIFA World club cup (to you-know-who from up the road). YankeeinMadrid
1-2 goal Atlante!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We still have a shot. Atlante look dodgy at the back but they move the ball well and their players have lots of class. How much would we need to win by to advance if Atlante win??
