just caught up with this thread and others - in the last couple of days - wont add fuel to the lamb :)

Venglos like McNeil/Turner and others came to Villa at the end of a mini era - the taylor years were wonderful but aging players etc didnt help. IMO Saunders, Taylor(1st time), BFR, Little, Gregory and MON, have been given a chance all the other managers were hired to fail

Wonder when this will turn on MON - We haven't won a premier games in 8 - and only 5 at home all season. and weve been saying 'next summer he will bring the players in' for to long now .......why should this summer be any different ?

This one really is crucial because we have been making progression up until now.

we will be lucky to finish 5th
At the start of the season most people would have said it would be great to finish 5th so I wonder if this is just 20/20 hindsight?

The position we were in though and the way we have played recently...

I don't get why this has been a wasted season, hopefully it's one we will learn from. Mon will learn he needs to add more depth and quality, the players will also learn alot of things, that when in a bad run they have to make things happen and not just wait for things to happen, they would of learn not to be perhaps over-confident while in leads and will hopefully learn to close games out better.

It feels wasted because we were 8 points ahead of Arsenal, in the last 32 of the UEFA cup and in the 5th Round of the F.A. Cup and we threw it all away.

Okay, okay, okay

Uefa Cup = we threw away

Premier League = who could forsee our random form suddnely dropping? the Stoke game lost us so much confidence, we only finally recovered from that for me in that united game and we suffered another set back.

BUT FOR **** SAKE.

WE PLAYED OUR FULL STRENGTH TEAM IN THE FA CUP AND LOST TO EVERTON. Why do people always say we played a weakened side!? no we didn't, we just got beat!

We've still had a good season. No one would have thought we could have put that much pressure on Arsenal for such a long period. Over half of the season we were looking like pushing them to the end.

It's up to MON to spend big in the summer, on real quality players who'll improve our first eleven. Or we'll keep slipping further and further behind the teams above us.

It's our best season for many years. We broke the club record for away wins in a row. If this is a "wasted season" we have been wasting seasons for the last dozon years.

And we could be about to break our record for lowest home points in the Premier League, 23 points at home is a joke and if it had happened under any other manager a lot more of you would be unhappy.

Of course our home record is nothing to be proud off....im not happy with our home record.

Are you not happy with our away record?

With the points yes, but look at the performances in most of the games, Hull away, West Ham away, Portsmouth away etc. we were bloody rubbish and very lucky and i said so at the time. You could count our great performances this season on one hand.
