Watched War Dogs at the weekend, was a decent film I thought. Based on a true story although some bits were added for effect. Crazy that the Pentagon procurement system allowed two stoners to bid for large military contracts. Wish I’d know about it back when I too was a young stoner.

It fizzles out towards the end, but for an hour, that film is fantastic.

Thought the Godzilla vs Kong movie was pretty crap.

5/10 About the same level as Battleship or the Pacific Rim movies. And I really like Godzilla flicks for the most part.

Watched The Devil's Advocate. That movie is a lot more fun than you remember. Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves make a great pairing

I'm here to do two things... Chew bubblegum and stay out of On Topic... And I'm all out of bubblegum.

Great film, Rowdy Roddy Piper

I enjoyed Godzilla V Kong.

Looked amazing, rattled along at breakneck pace and gets an extra mark or two for coming in under the 2hr mark. All killer, no filler.

Whelp, I thought it was dumb fun. Big, dumb, glorious fun. If you can't find the joy in a giant monkey re-locating it's shoulder against a skyscraper like Riggs in Lethal Weapon 2, well there's no helping you. Sure, the "plot" would fall apart in a gentle breeze, but I don't go to Pornhub for the mise-en-scene. I only really have two criticisms; 1) I'd have booked a suplex or two for the spectacle/laughs and 2) I would totally have had them either fistbump or do the Predator-handshake at the end because you might as well embrace the lunacy.

Also at some point in these films I want to see Godzilla pick up a giant pack of Chewits. Is that too much to ask?!

Brilliant. I'd forgot about the chewit adverts.

I'd like to have seen Kong and godzilla fight in the middle earth no gravity land, missed opportunity.

Its big dumb mindless fun and head and shoulders over its boring predecessors.

I watched the Mauritanian over the weekend, it’s on Prime. I knew a bit about the horrendous conditions prisoners were kept in at Guantanamo but this really exposes the crimes that went/go on there. A really good film, the only thing that annoyed me was Benedict Cumberbatch’s American accent, let’s just say I’m glad I always have subtitles on.

Concrete Cowboy on netflix

Its about the inner city cowboys in the black community of North philiadelphia

Surprisingly good cast, Elba, the kid from stranger things, the kid who is excellent in when they see us, method man and some real life cowboys, it's a nice easy watch, nothing spectacular or flashy just a nice slow pace, good albeit basic story just showing the lives that these people live, it's very believable if obviously not relatable, at its core its a story told hundreds of times before but its still got a lot going for it, solid 7/10 film

Another Netflix film, news of the world

Tom hanks as the only really recognisable cast member although I think the girl is up for awards for her performance, directed by Paul greengrass, western set in texas

Its a bit too slow for me, hanks gonna hanks, the girl is good, would say that IMO the star of this kind of film should be the cinematographer and its not, its nothing special and has some ropery CGI thrown in, it looks and feels like a cheap Netflix film at times which is a shame, the end is also postcarded from miles away

But its still a solid and enjoyable enough film, a bit like the dig, just a nice well acted watch, just nothibg spectacular
