After Life (1998)  I thought it was a really good movie, watching it felt like watching a long lost classic... Antiporno, thought this was really excellent, lots of vivid colors and nice use of famous pieces of classical music which gives it almost a decadent feel which is at odds with some of the other aspects of the film... Noriko's Dinner Table, this was a really great psychological thriller, had some ideas I've seen in other movies but done in a very original way, kind of film that stays with you a long time after watching and makes you think... La La Land, I liked some parts of this but not so much other parts, overall I'd say I quite liked it...Long Journey into the Night, famous because the last hour is one long tracking shot and is in 3D, one of those movies where it's confusing because you've got the same actor playing different characters, dream sequences and the story is told in a non-linear way. I liked it.

Anyone feeling the hype for Ridley Scott's upcoming medieval blockbuster starring Matt Damon and a blond Ben Affleck? :D

I so hope they will be speaking in a French/New England accent.

Adam Driver is also in it and he's likely more suited to paying a role like this.

Ben Affleck donned a blond wig and goatee on the set of Ridley Scott's The Last Duel alongside collaborator Matt Damon (pictured) at Fenelon Castle in Sarlat, France on Tuesday. Ben Affleck (pictured) donned a blond wig and goatee on the set of Ridley Scott's The Last Duel alongside collaborator Matt Damon at Fenelon Castle in Sarlat, France on Tuesday.

Edit: It's titled The last Duel and based on a book.

The missus was out with her mates at a quiz at the local cricket club last night (led them to a storming win, natch), so I finally got to settle down with a few beers and watch The Irishman. Really enjoyed it. The 'reverse ageing' cgi worked better than I'd feared, and it's always fun to watch out for the Scorsese movie geek easter eggs (several nods to Goodfellas, obviously, plus "The Shootist" showing at a cinema in one background shot, a snatch of the "Godfather" theme music playing in a restaurant, and so on). Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, Keitel - what's not to like?

Contagion really is a pretty solid movie, mostly because it isn't trying to be too sensationalist. It's fairly realistic even if the flu is a bit too deadly.

If you take out Jude Laws character and the whole "blogosphere" and big farma crap that makes it feel a bit dated it's not bad at all.

The ending when you see how the initial spreading began is scarily spot on to what we are seeing happening now.

👍Thought I might be the only one that spotted the shootist one.

Re-watched The Big Short the other night. Makes an incredibly dull sector of investment markets interesting viewing. Quality.

Not for me it didn't. Gave up on it.

Yesterday - it’s alright. Sweet premise, one of those you pretty much know what is going to happen. If you like Beatles music it’s a good throw back.

Spoiler

Really didn’t understand why Coca Cola, cigarettes and Harry Potter weren’t around though.

X men Dark Phoenix. I expected an absolute shit storm. It’s not great, but nowhere as bad as some reviews. Even for someone who hasn’t read the comics though, I know there is more they could do with the storyline. Needed more depth into what the dark Phoenix was.
I’m glad that now on X Men will be moving to MCU as they’ll do a better job than fox
