Inglorious Basterds

I found the trailer to be crass and lacking the humour present throughout the film, so here's a clip of the American's infiltrating Nazi territory posing as Italians.

Bourne is better than Bond. More realistic.

I think Bond taking a page out of Bourne's book with Casino Royale was the best move they ever made.

Bond was still cooler and slicker than Bourne, and the film still had some of the gadgets and high end cars etc that made it a Bond film. But it got rid of the over the top ridiculousness of where Bond had gone. Die Another Day, the film before it, was just absurd.

I was really excited at that time because I genuinely think Casino Royale is the best Bond Movie ever. Unfortunately they seem to have tried to go more and more back towards how the Bond films used to be since then. More gadgets and absurdity with every movie. Spectre was an awful movie. Good visuals but it was so so dull.

It's a shame because I really thought they were onto something with that darker side to Bond, even if it was ripping off Bourne.

Edit: @Chindie said it better than me in his third paragraph.

Image result for buckaroo banzai

If you thought Peter Weller's best role was a Robotic Policeman and not a brain surgeon, rock musician adventurer....you'd be right :)

So silly. A guilty pleasure? No, I think I love it unironically. Worth it for John Lithgow's 'accent' alone.

Although my favourite Back to the Future (Christopher Lloyd is in Buckaroo Banzai too) is the third one so I understand my tastes being questioned.

Loads of stars - Jeff Goldblum, Vincent Schiavelli, Ellen Barkin, Ronald Lacey,

And

(One of my favourites)

Clancy Brown

(Kurgan, Mr Krabz, Dr Neo Cortex, Lex Luthor and other stuff I'm sure you'd love, check him out, he's done loads including something called the Assured Shiv Condemnation or something like that. I always thought he'd make a good Judge Dredd)

You can't go wrong.

Equaliser 2 last night

Denzel's , first ever sequel  , on this form lets hope it's his last

it sorta started ok but just descends into predictable farce and the last half hour just doesn't hold your attention  ...

Currently having a film called The Whistleblower filmed outside my office. Apparently "The film is being co-produced by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon producer Bill Kong and Greg Basser (Concussion, Goosebumps)." Certainly creating some local interest.

Just finishes ‘Solo’ on a plane flight.

After all of the negative reviews I had low expectations but I really enjoyed it. Bit convoluted in parts but kept me interested and had enough little nods to the originals to satisfy a fanboi like me.

Anyone else have films that they know full well are terrible but for whatever reason they always find themselves watching it if it happens to be on the telly?

Currently watching “2012”. I think it’s a mixture of John Cusack always being watchable, Oliver Platt being entertaining as he gets increasingly angry during the film and me fancying Amanda Peet that does it.

Most disaster movies, except 2012 oddly enough, just too bad for me. But I can watch The Day After Tomorrow, San Andreas. The Core etc quite happily if I stumble across them.

Tonight though, I plumped for Clozot's 1942 film "The Murderer Lives at 21" - which was good fun, a lighter take on the whodunnit, but it was interesting to see some of the techniques he develops later on with the fantastic Les Diaboliques

Paddington 2 - very enjoyable for a kids film.

Watched the first one yesterday and really enjoyed it. And I don't have kids so I had no excuse other than it looked like fun. Great film. Will watch the 2nd one soon.

The OH and I made the unfortunate decision on Saturday to watch "The Escape Plan". I'm not sure why.

It was wank.

I mean it was decent enough to hold our attention for 90 minutes, but it wasn't a good film by any stretch.
We were openly laughing at some bits.

I'm going to spoiler this but there's not really any point

Spoiler

The bit where Stallone gets flushed into the ocean at the end and the guys in the helicopter immediately spot him, despite it being the middle of the ocean, next to a gigantic ship, and they had no idea he was going to be in the sea so wouldn't have even been looking for him.

Ridiculous
