£1.15 billion in debt 😵 Barcelona have been so poorly run for so long it's crazy. At this rate the club is lucky to still be playing, if they were a slightly smaller team I think they'd probably have gone under.

That said watching them last night, it was rather refreshing seeing a Barca team not entirely reliant on Messi. Going to be a tough few years for them though.

Why? They haven't broken any rules. Their wagebill is being reduced accordingly to la liga salary cap rules.

They haven't defaulted on any of the loans either, and unlikely they will.

But if they were a smaller team that would have happened

Smaller team would never be given that much loans, their revenue would not be able to support it.

There's nothing in the rules prohibiting you from taking on debt. As long as you not defaulting on repayments.

Anyone have any idea what sort of interest is payable on €1.35b of debt?

I dont know but the debt has gone up £170m since January. I assume that's unsustainable. Unlike madrid the spanish government aren't likely to bail them out, the yellow ribbons saw to that.

In the meantime they are trying to swap coutinho for aubameyang which is bizarre and also they wanted to sign ex aston villa legend tammy abraham.

havent watched barca in years but is there no possibility of AVFC exploiting this? must be someone we could get on the cheap? or at least a high quality loan and just pay his wages?

not a chance, every Barca player is probably on 50-90k a week more than our highest earner. None of the players would be bothered either

FFP doing a great job protecting clubs from themselves then.

They should have sold Messi when he could have attracted a transfer fee.

Yes, last summer they could have got a quick and easy £50-£100m for him and saved the same again in wages… but instead they fought to keep him.

the best bet is to look at who they didnt register or who they kicked back in to the B team

from that IMO there's only Moriba and someone here last week said he's chasing a £150k a week contract with them...he's 18

€8m a year scouting sounds dodgy as hell. Probably some honorary role in return for unearthing someone like Neymar years ago

President before Bartomeu had big connections in Nike Brazil, was how they got Neymar and could previously convince Ronaldinho to join

The whole thing is corrupt. €40m to a social media company to bad mouth your best player? For a club that's supposed to be owned by the member's the lack of transparency in finance is extraordinary.
