Honest question? Why drop Pau? Do you think he’s been bad recently?

I assume you’d start Mings? Or go with Carlos and Konsa.

He has an agenda against him.

More controlled?

Does it indicate we'll want more possession rather than counter attacking stuff?

If I were betting on it we will be keeping things tight till the second half where we will put Bailey on and give it a go. Didn't we do this against arsenal last year?

with Konsa back and Kamara starting it probably is our best defensive setup on paper. so probably try and hold tight first half and then having options of Bailey for Philogene and Maatsen for Digne to add more attacking impetus later (cue conceding within 5 mins)

Think Chelsea's weakest spot is GK, so hope we try and test him. When opportunities come, get crosses in early and take some shots from distance.

Yeah agree with a lot of that. Would also like us to pressure their goalkeeper everytime he gets the ball to try and force a mistake.

Why are we starting Philogene.

It's bad enough when he's subbed on.

I think the hope is that he will help out defensively more than Bailey. Ie repeat of Bayern performance. But it's one of few bad options we have on that right hand side.

You obviously have a better solution, care to share ?

Chelsea are just better than us at the moment. Palmer, Jackson, Neto. We have a misfiring Watkin's and a non exsitant Duran.

Madueke is on the bench so that might be good news for us (until he comes on!)

He was dreadful in their last game

I’m fully expecting us to lose. There’s not a shred of reason to be positive at the moment. We’re doing everything badly and nothing well. But it’s ok because after every one of our recent shitty results going back two months, fans have said they trust Emery to turn it around.

I’m a little more realistic and will wait for us to actually get a result before handing out flowers. It won’t be today.

It’s his last chance in my mind to show he’s remotely capable

Considering Rogers has been playing through the middle, I can only assume it's philogene and mcginn out wide, and honestly I think that explains the issues we've been having well. Swap them out for a grealish/diaby/bailey(of last year) and the difference is marked.

That said hopefully dropping an out of sorts bailey, kamara rightfully getting a run of games(though I hope his body holds up) and our best CB pairing starting can start to see the tide turn
