ferguson1 Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Very tough game but we need to start picking up some points from teams around us this season. Assume Onana or Ramsey won’t be back or at best will only make the bench? Would like to see Konsa back starting though if possible. Rogers probably needs a rest but needs must right now, but perhaps we can rotate a little against Brentford next week: Martinez Cash Konsa Pau Digne Kamara Tielemans Bailey Rogers McGinn Watkins Subs: Gauci, Bogarde, Maatsen, Carlos, Mings, Barkley, Philogene, Buendia, Duran I don’t see this as any kind of must win game but I’d certainly like a minimum of a point. I think we can. Going to say 1-1 UTV 1
Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted November 28 Moderator Popular Post Posted November 28 If we can put out the Cash-Konsa-Torres-Digne back four with Kamara in front of them, we've got a chance against anyone. 7
markavfc40 Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Aside from Konsa for Carlos I'd go with the same again. We need to put a run of games together where are playing the same 11, bar maybe the odd change, and try to get into some kind of rhythm. In fairness that 11 we put out last night with Konsa for Carlos is arguably our strongest side (maybe Ramsey for McGinn and Rogers behind Watkins would be better) and on its day can give anyone a game. We can certainly get something at Chelsea.

wict01 Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Will be 8 without a win. Regroup and target 6 points from Brentford/Southampton at home. 1
kidlewis Posted November 28 Posted November 28 20% chance we get a point or better here… need Palmer to pull his hamstring in the first 10….
OutByEaster? Posted November 28 Moderator Posted November 28 Stuart Attwell for this one. Haven't we suffered enough? 1
useless Posted November 28 Posted November 28 I think this will be a very difficult game, they will be favorites, but also, they've failed to win half of their league games this season, and have only won twice at home, they actually have a worse home record than we have away record this season, so we shouldn't be without hope, we have a chance
VillaChris Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Jackson v Pau is the key match up here. They were teammates at Villareal and when we played them last season he couldn't stay onside and largely missed the key chances. This season he is scoring plenty of them so all it needs is Palmer to get into space and some passes through to him. I'd be surprised if we only concede twice here, think it's a probable 3-1 loss. 1
Pongo Waring Posted November 28 Posted November 28 I think we should be winning this game. 2-0 Villa. 3
Leeroy Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Our strongest team at the moment is this and I’d like to see it in the next 3 league games for consistency (no injuries please!): Martinez Cash Konsa Torres Digne Kamara Tielemans Bailey McGinn Rogers Watkins Kamara and that back 4 should at least help us concede fewer goals. Rogers obviously off colour at the moment but Bailey and McGinn are starting to look more threatening, they just both need a goal. That team can give any team a game and it’s capable of going to Chelsea and getting a result but whether we will or not who knows. 2
Leeroy Posted November 29 Posted November 29 That lineup above has more experience than the team Chelsea is likely to put out, 351 senior international caps amongst them in our team. The team Chelsea is likely to put out probably has only just over 150 senior caps. Obviously their team is a fair bit younger then ours but does suggest they still lack a bit of experience despite the huge amounts spent. I still think we’ll likely come away with nothing.
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted November 29 VT Supporter Popular Post Posted November 29 I'm more positive after Wednesday as I still think that was a very good performance. But that being said I still can't see us getting anything from Chelsea. I'll be less surprised if we do, but I'd still bet against it 6
picicata Posted November 29 Posted November 29 3-1 to Chelsea Us to look OK up to the point we do something stupid in defence and then collapse into a disappointing loss
TDR V2 Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I'm expecting a solid defensive display and Villa to win I've not even started drinking yet
TRO Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Their Pace and ball domination will spell tough game, for us. We seem to struggle playing quick teams, and their transition, could undo us. but as we have seen before, if Villa can find some form....they can give anyone a game. No more Spursy results though Villa.....it gives me the heebie jeebies.

Yeah, also would like Onana alongside Boub....with Tielemans scheming. Maybe give Rogers a rest. Edited November 29 by TRO 2
ferguson1 Posted November 29 Posted November 29 No Ramsey for Sunday but Onana possibly back in the squad.
HeroesAndVillans Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Really, really good side this year. Credit where it's due to Maresca, but every team in this league is hard to beat on their day. I've got to believe, and we could really do with a shock result right now for confidence going into Brentford and Southampton. 1
