fruitvilla Posted November 11 Posted November 11 (edited) There was some discussion on the US politics thread about being a celebrity that helps win elections. Here's a question: Which three people would you like to sit next to on three separate flights, chat, and discuss things with? My three are: Steven Pinker Susan Blackmore Sean Caroll And as a bonus I would like to sit next to Donald and give him an earful. Edited November 11 by fruitvilla
colhint Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Samuel L Jackson Chris Evert tennis player Mick Fleetwood I used to work in LA, and travelled there frequently and frequently got upgraded to first class. So the three above I did actually sit next to. Chris Evert did a lap dance for me. Well she actually stumbled getting past me to go to the toilet. I told her that I'm going to tell everyone she did a lap dance, she laughed. 1
bickster Posted November 11 Moderator Posted November 11 Can I pick three dead people who definitely won't make the plane? 1 2

mjmooney Posted November 11 VT Supporter Posted November 11 Bob Dylan, obviously - but almost certainly a waste of time, as he'd just refuse to converse (Joni Mitchell actually wrote a song - Talk To Me - about having had that experience) I'll have to think about the other two. 1

As a person who struggles with sleep, for some reason I can always sleep on a plane whether short or long haul. So I’d want somebody who won’t turn up so I’d have two seats to myself
tonyh29 Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I'd rather pour petrol over myself and set fire to it than be stuck next to a celeb on a flight , but I wouldn't mind a chat with some of the great leaders of human history , so my 3 would be Julius Caesar Alexander of Macedon Ramesses II bonus would be Oliver Cromwell

Last thing I want to do on a flight is talk to random strangers no matter who they are. Much prefer the empty seat next to me 6

Yes but my point is that I'm on a plane, I don't want to talk to anyone. Earphones in, read a book or eyes shut. There's something about being squeezed into a tightish space for a number of hours that makes me rather anti-social 1

Much prefer the empty seat next to me I've spoken to many people on flights , I quite enjoy it , mind you I'm from the friendly South rather than the anti-social North true , some get on wearing clearing in the woods headphones and never remove them the whole flight , so be it , they want to be left alone , but apart from them I always start the flight with a Hello to the person next to me , if they want to chat they will let you know easily enough , its usually a quite interesting way of killing a few hours , the Jehovah's Witness that tried to convert me on my flight to Budapest once was one of my favourite flights , it was like trolling a captive audience and she couldn't use the ignore button Edited November 11 by tonyh29
tomav84 Posted November 11 VT Supporter Posted November 11 jo brand, kathy burke, probably a villa player too...mcginn or mings i guess but i'm with @bickster, if i get to choose which 3 i sit next to, i vote for 3 empty seats and a nice row of 4 all to myself

villa4europe Posted November 11 Posted November 11 assuming that they were all very open (kw) and talkative Deano Noel Gallagher Ian Kershaw and that said I agree with bicks, headphones are on, switch is on, I'm in my own bubble for the duration of the flight, I'm not interested in what other people on the flight are up to, the wife doesn't agree seeing as she has the two kids...
