sidcow Posted November 7 VT Supporter Posted November 7 5 hours and no response. England firing people's imagination 3
peterwithethewinner Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Ollie needs to be at BMH not bench warming 1
WallisFrizz Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Couldn’t disagree more with this. I don’t blame the players at all for taking the opportunity to rest given their schedules, especially with the strange manager situation at the moment. The Villa boys will have earned some brownie points tho.
villa4europe Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) Nah he's right, it's been an England problem for decades But then we don't help ourselves, we call up the same old names regardless of fitness or form, Grealish hasn't kicked a ball in a month but gets called up, we then over play players too, kane himself shouldn't start either of these games, Ollie starts one solanke starts one rather than maybe 10 mins each I didnt actually look at the full details but what struck me was 8 pulled out but only 5 replacements were called up Edited November 13 by villa4europe 2

Players have been good at turning up for England camps but if even the incoming manager isn’t showing up for this one, I can see why the players are choosing to prioritise recovering from any niggles they might have and putting their club form first.
Spoony Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Why should the players care? Many genuine football fans don’t. England has been taken over by coked up bucket hat wearing knobheads. This whole idea of pride in the England shirt etc is long gone. It was killed by stupid fixture schedules, FIFA, money and the corporatisation and social media-isation of the whole thing. International football is about as compelling as dressage 2

I’ve never wore a bucket hat. 1

They can't be arsed turning up for friendlies/qualifiers then Tuchel shouldn't be arsed to pick them for the tournaments. 2

Southgate built this culture.
KAZZAM Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Kane would pull out too if he still played for Spurs. Hardly need a rest playing farmers league week in week out also gets to fly home and see his family.
Genie Posted November 13 Posted November 13 It’s weird how the players get called up and then pull out. Why not check their availability first to avoid this farce? 1

No he didn't, Gerrard did it several times, played Saturday for Liverpool, "injured" for England, played for Liverpool Again, part of the problem is England manager have to call up their favourites, Grealish not played in a month because of injury shouldn't be called up, TAA Saka and rice all went off injured at the weekend, shouldnt be called up, harry kane playing tournaments on one leg...
Mic09 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) The mentality of dropping for internationals is a very English thing. If I'm wrong and Portugal/France/Belgium have a similar problem, please let me know. The holier than thou mentality of "I'm too good to play Greece". Fans express the same mentality by calling those internationals "pointless". I said it before, if some fans and some players had their way, England would play one international game every 4 years; WC final at Wembley. Because playing in a different country would be stupid, other countries are not worthy of "football". And it would have to be against Germany. Otherwise, what's the point. Haven't we withdrew Tielemans, Pau and Maatsen from their international teams?
