OutByEaster? Posted November 6 Moderator Posted November 6 Well then, difficult to look forward to this, but we do occasionally put in a surprise performance against a good side. We need to find a way to threaten teams with our wingers struggling so for me I'd change the shape. ---------------------------------------Martinez--------------------------------- Nedeljkovic------Konsa------Mings------Torres----------Digne -----------------------------Onana------Tielemans----------------------- ------------------------------------Rogers------------------------------------- ----------------Duran-------------------------------Watkins-------------- Let Ned and Digne support with some width, but encourage the forwards to run channels and get wide with Rogers playing as a third forward - I wouldn't be against playing Kamara over Tielemans and playing sit-and-hit. 1 1
Pongo Waring Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I'd start: Proctor (GK); Rowe (C), Katsukunya, Routh, Patterson; Pavey, Hemmings, Jimoh-Aloba; Broggio, Young, Burrowes. 3
ferguson1 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Cash to start but if not, I’d give Ned a go. I don’t honestly think we should start Kamara but needs must and others woefully out of form meaning we have little choice. Not looking forward to the game one bit. Could be damage limitation this one: Martinez Nedeljkovic Konsa Pau Digne Onana Kamara Rogers Ramsey Tielemans Watkins Subs: Olsen, Cash, Mastsen, Carlos, Mings, McGinn, Philogene, Bailey, Duran Edited November 6 by ferguson1 1 1
BleedClaretAndBlue Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Onana - Kamara double pivot, Tielemans 10. Rogers & Ramsey either side. Watkins up top. Digne - Pau - Konsa - Nedeljkovic its too painful watching Ezri playing RB, but I know he will again with probably Carlos partnering Pau. 1

WakefieldVillan Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Well without playing in that shambles tonight, Cash and Barkley (if fit) might have made the starting XI for this one. Martinez Cash Konsa Torres Digne Tielemans Onana Barkley Rogers Watkins Ramsey 4-3-3 in possession 4-5-1 out of possession Set up solid and look to counter with pace. If Barkley not fit, then Kamara. If no Cash then I think you've got to go Konsa/Carlos, not sure it's the game for Ned. Usually when everyone fears a real drubbing it doesn't happen and I think we will see a good performance, and we might nick a 1-1 or 2-2. UTFV ! 1
RicRic Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Onana Kamara Tielemans Rogers Ramsey Watkins You lot can figure the rest out but that would be my starting midfield/attack Edited November 6 by RicRic

Well it wouldn’t be too worrying as its liverpool but id be very livid as thats one of the teams i hate losing against… them and united have brushed us over far too many times
VillaChris Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Soundly beaten here, 3-1 with late consolation from Duran. The international break is coming at a very good time to have a reset. 1

Hank Scorpio Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Hard to see anything but a heavy defeat based on current form. So would kill for a draw, sadly can't see it. 2
Rugeley Villa Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Would I be shocked if we got 3 points up there? Not at all. We are more than capable . 1
useless Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I've got a feeling we might get a result in this game, and in a strange way the poor performance against Brugge might actually make that more likely, as we will be looking to bounce back from the poor Brugge performance, of course you could have applied that same logic to the Brugge game after the Spurs defeat, but I think there's a difference, that being that Spurs away was a game we were always capable of losing, at home they're favorites against most teams they play, so whilst disappointing, a defeat in that game not too alarming, whereas the Brugge defeat and performance should serve as more of a wake up call, at the very least I think there's a good chance we put in a good performance 1
OutByEaster? Posted November 7 Author Moderator Posted November 7 The problem with the Rogers, Ramsey, Watkins front three is width. You end up with this when we're pushing forward: ---------------------------------Martinez--------------------------------- Konsa ----------- Costa----------------Torres---------------------- -----------------------Onana-----------Kamara--------------Digne ----------------------------------Tielemans----------------------------- --------------------------------Rogers------Ramsey----------------- -----------------------------------Watkins------------------------------- With absolutely nothing down the sides. If we play those three with Konsa at full back, they'll funnel everything down the middle where there's no space and Robertson will be able to play in Konsa's face with no worry about what's behind him at all. The big spaces down the sides are our biggest problem. 1
wict01 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 They are presently playing with an intensity that we have struggled against even when playing at our best - they took apart a usually very resolute Leverkusen team in 30 mins with 4 goals and can go from 0-0 to 2-0 up in the blink of an eye. I am hopeful that we can go there and grind out a 1-1 like we did at the tail end of the 22/23 season, but on present form I think a thorough beating is on the cards and wouldn't be shocked to see us ship 5 or 6. I remember Emery's arsenal taking a similar kicking up there.
BleedClaretAndBlue Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Diaz, Gakpo and Salah all in top form too . Really looking forward to it
