Spoony Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I feel a bit guilty creating this thread but it might be a good idea for content. But the real sneaky reason I created it was this: does anyone remember a ghost goal, I think somewhere in the football league in the 2000s, where the ball bounced out from that retaining bar at the back of the goal that goes along the ground at the back of the net (I don’t even know what you'd call that) and wasn’t given? Or have I totally imagined that?
rjw63 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Darren Bent scoring with an assist from a beach ball (IIRC). 2

GarethRDR Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Nah, think I might have been thinking of this one instead, but I definitely remember the goal you've described. 1

VillaChris Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Bristol City-Palace was another from around that time, Palace player scored but it hit something at the back of the net and bounced out and ref thought it hadn't gone in so gave goal kick! In general terms us appointing McLeish would be right up there.

GarethRDR Posted November 5 Posted November 5 This one's up there. Added bonus, unlike the other video this one wasn't filmed on a potato. 3

theboyangel Posted November 5 Posted November 5 The Liverpool ghost goal against Chelsea in the Champs League semi-final - still don’t know how that was awarded!
Rob182 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 We have to mention the Nyland goal line technology failure and our game vs Leeds when they gave us a goal. It was so surreal to see that happening. I’ve never seen a team allow another to walk the ball into the net before (except for Pontus Jansson who didn’t get the message!) 1 1

Apparently Jansson was aware and thats why he was dropped and sold soon after
Mark Albrighton Posted November 5 VT Supporter Posted November 5 I remember seeing this on a Nick Hancock football video in the 90’s. Here it is with the original highlights commentary, the ridiculousness begins around 1:20 in - 1 3
rjw63 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 The Villa striker who got his shorts pulled down against Tottenham Hotscum and we didn't get a penalty (or anything) was bizarre. 3

withes_shin Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) Clive Allen goal for Crystal Palace that hit the stanchion in goal and came straight out again. Edited November 5 by withes_shin
