wedge Posted November 3 Posted November 3 A welcome chance to banish today's woes, it be interesting to see what starting XI Unai goes with, I'm sure the ultra in-depth research on Brugge has been done! To all the Villans travelling whether with tickets or without - safe travels and see you soon. 4
stewiek2 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 How we play suits Europe. It's not how it should be every week in the premier league. I dare say it might not work against Brugge. Belgian teams play a very English style.
VillaChris Posted November 3 Posted November 3 We've practically qualified already. Think it will be a low key 1-1. 1

Pongo Waring Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) Need to get something here. Just cant take 3 losses in a row. I'm not use to it Edited November 3 by Pongo Waring 1
PaulC Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Still need about 6 points to make top 8 and this one of the two remaining games on paper we should win. So after a good telling off from Emery I think we will get a reaction and win this 1
villa89 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) If we are serious about getting into the top 8 we need to win this. No doubt it will be tough away from home but all 3 points are needed. Lepzig and monaco will be tougher away tests. Edited November 4 by villa89 2

I'd rather get the league form going than concentrate on finishing top 8 in the CL as not like it gets us a bye into the competition next year. 1
ferguson1 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Think we can afford a few changes here, which shouldn’t weaken us at all. I like to see some width in our attacking play and think we can afford almost a back three when in possession with Maatsen providing good width. I can’t see Kamara starting at Anfield, so 60 minutes or more here would be good Cash a doubt possibly if he had blood around his ankle area. McGinn didn’t really work on the right but he could play just behind Watkins if Rogers doesn’t make it: Martinez Konsa Carlos Pau Maatsen Kamara Tielemans Bailey Ramsey Rogers Watkins Subs: Olsen, Nedeljkovic, Digne, Bogarde, Mings, Onana, McGinn, Buendia, Philogene, K Young, Duran Good changes in the second half (55-60 minutes onwards). Going to say a 0-2 away win.
TheMightyVillans Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Wouldn't mind trying something a little different this match. Konsa, Mings, Torres back 3 most of the time with maatsen bombing forward. Rogers helping form a box midfield. Bailey to hopefully find some form. Martinez Konsa Mings Torres Maatsen Bailey Kamara Onana Rogers Tielemans Watkins

Going by the Premier League, after GW8 8th place had 16 points. Finishing top 8 is important as it gets you straight into the last 16 without having to play a two legged play-off game.

Nah no way will it be 18/19 points. 19 points is 6 wins, a draw and a defeat from the 8 games. There's absolutely no way 8 teams will have that sort of record 15 will be about right. Win this game against Brugge and we're basically there

No but if we mess around with playoff games it will take the focus off the league. Need to nail down this top 8 place ASAP now we've started so well
duke313 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Beat Brugge, beat Celtic and that's 15 points. A draw at either Juve, Leipzig or Monaco will see us in top 8. 1 1
OutByEaster? Posted November 4 Moderator Posted November 4 An interesting challenge for Unai here - with our wingers so badly out of form we need to figure out how we can get more threat down the sides. I think Bailey and Philogene have probably played Maatsen into the team. I'd guess McGinn has to continue on the right, although I'd be interested in seeing some sort of combination of Onana, Kamara and Tielemans instead and I think this one might be another starting opportunity for Jhon Duran. We've developed question marks over the course of the season; at right back, on both flanks and up front and it'll be fascinating to see how Unai deals with them.

City, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Barca all had strong starts so I'd expect them to win 6 games out of 8 seeing as none of them are playing each other. We're in the mix then at having to outperform likes of Bayern Munich (2 defeats from 3 so that is possible), Arsenal, Inter Milan and Juventus so that will be a decider I think at VP. Sporting had a good start but you'd expect them to drop off now with Amorim leaving. Difficult thing is keeping track of who all the other teams are playing as there's so many games to keep track of compared to the old format where you just focused on the other three teams in the group.
duke313 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Would like to see a few changes for this, need a bit of a mix up in the starting XI. Players out of form should be dropped.
duke313 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 If Cash is out, then Ned or Bogarde at RB, no more Konsa RB please. 2

Carlos can come on fro Mings but who's coming on for Kamara? Edited November 4 by duke313
