Another year, another [crashes lazily out of the cup].

Getting a bit boring. Tell us a new story please Unai, because that lineup was **** poor if we're being honest, especially with nowt on the bench to impact the game.

Nothing wrong with the lineup but yeah the bench was weak .  We just didn’t want it tonight which is piss poor but I’m not surprised we got beat tonight . Palace played well enough to deserve it.

What an absolute diabolical pass from Carlos, just totally deflated the whole team. It was criminal, and it's not the first time he's done it. I'm sure a few now realise why Digne plays ahead of Matteson, he was useless! Ned got my motm, sheer, honest endeavour, which only he and Bouba gave for the whole ninety minutes. That performance after their second was inexcusable. I just can't bare watching the team I love showing a lack of passion, regardless of the circumstances.

Posted in the game thread that this should have been our easiest game of the season. I meant that Palace was awful and without silly mistakes we shouldn't have had anything to worry about. After 1-2 it was downhill and they controlled it.

Not a big deal as it's not our priority but we should have won this easily

It showed how much Emery cared about this cup when the subs came on. If we want to win it JJ comes on, instead we get the kids.

I dont mind bowing out early.

Positives - Thought Mings looked mostly good tonight as did Kamara

Negatives - We had some poor performances from Diego and Philogene (others too, but they can be excused with the lack of football)

Disappointed, our keeper was dreadful and we lacked a cutting edge despite having some great positions for a final ball. Looking at Palace getting 2 players injured and it sort of brings things home. Thought the ref had a bad game as well, let some fouls go because we stayed on our feet but we lost possession and he just waved play on. Kamara looked good, rusty but good . Great to see Mings back 👏

Big pile of steaming horse poo, terrible performance from some of our so called better players.

JPB - 4/10 - worst performance in a villa shirt, looks like an amateur player in his decision making. Move him to the right or drop him

McGinn - 4/10 - terrible, didn’t impose himself on the game one single bit.

Matsen - 5/10 - so inconsistent throughout the game

Bailey - 5/10 - one hit wonder

Beundia - first proper game back but worrying

Mings - looked decent

Kamara - Will be fine

Poor. Another opportunity to win a cup missed. Emery clearly doesn’t care for this competition.

Still I suppose league and CL more important.

Pslace beat us 5-0 in May and now beaten us at VP and they’re shit. I hope we smash them for 7 in the league in a couple of weeks the c***s.

Unai not interested.

Wish people at the club would understand how much winning that trophy would mean to us fans.

I’d hate for someone like Spurs or Newcastle to win a trophy before us.

I’m not that fussed with this competition.  It would be great to win but still a long way to go and we have other priorities than this cup.

Just look at Palace losing Eze and Wharton to injury, if we had lost Watkins and Tielemans to injury tonight this board would’ve gone berserk at Emery for risking key players in this cup when we have big games coming up.

Really fed up of us not giving any of the domestic cups a real go. We aren't winning the league and we aren't winning the CL, let's face it. So therefore we aren't winning anything at all in the foreseeable future. So frustrating.

Another meek exit in the League Cup in eerily similar circumstances to last season, home game against a side struggling for form with a much changed lineup, even the goal we gave away was a carbon copy of one of those we gifted to Everton last season.

Second half was dreadful, no impetus to do much of anything, worried about Philogene to be honest in particular, he just doesn’t look like he’s enjoying his football at the moment. Obvious massive plus points seeing Mings and Kamara complete 90 minutes, and both looking something like their old selves.
